What about shortcuts, like Windows Key + E? (Opens My Computer). Does that bring up the Win8 equivalent? If so I can live with that.

From what I have checked all of the Hot Keys are working, but you will need to learn new ones, I'm sure.

Windows Key + F = The Search Menu (You will use this the most probably)

Windows Key + W = Settings Menu (You will use this a lot too)

Windows Key + i = brings up the Desktop panel with a few important links, like Help / Control Panel.

As you can see from the picture below, the Desktop is customizable just like before.

There is a registry edit that disables metro and brings back the exact Windows 7 desktop look.

Here's how:
Quote:
1. First, press the Start + R buttons, to open the Run menu.
2. In the Run window, type "regedit" and hit Enter.
3. Now scroll on the top of the list and double click on "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". This will expand the folder.
4. Do the same for "SOFTWARE ".
5. In the list, search for "Microsoft" and open it.
6. Now using the same procedure, navigate to Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer and some registry entries will appear in the right side of the screen.
7. Click on the one called "RPenabled" and change its value from "1" to "0".

That doesn't exist or work in the consumer preview.

Metro is here to stay, folks.

Time to get cozy smile.gif

I did an upgrade from w7 64.. and had it keep all of my settings and programs.. everything is working great after I reinstalled my ATI driver.

I like the UI quite a bit.. but it is definitely not without frustration or confusion.. I'll get through it, though.
