All programs just crashing (SSD and HDD installed) or closing to desktop.

Ok I don't know what the problem with my PC is but for some reason all my programs whether they are installed on my SSD or my HDD just close or crash to the desktop pretty much all the time.

For example Steam will be open and all the sudden just close itself out and pop me straight to the desktop. It's installed to a HDD by the way.

Firefox and the video game EvE online are installed to my SSD though and they crash just about 10 seconds after I start them.

*** is going on? For the record I've lowered my overclock and set the thing on just 4ghz. I wouldn't think it's that though b/c my temps are completely fine, always have been to.

you may wanna look into a patch for Mass Effect - i googled "Application Name: MassEffect.exe" and there are many having your same
issue. and most point to a patch update through steam and online game review.

I'll look into that but it's something bigger I'm positive. Firefox will usually only stay open for 10 seconds after I launch it and BAM auto desktop. Same with Steam in general alot of times. I've disabled ALL overclocks and I've even turned cross fire off. Yet this **** still keeps happening.

I'm at a loss and frankly pretty pissed off right now, this rig cost me a ton of money and it's looking like it was just a waste frown.gif

Well it seems the problem was my ram. I haven't tried running everything yet but I'm pretty sure that's the culprit. I ran Memtest and my God I've never seen so much red in my life. Every second and every tick of the test more and more errors were popping up. I mean there were over 20 thousand errors I believe in under 1 minutes time. I shut the pc down and grabbed 8 gigs from my old rig that I gutted and ran memtest again. This time not one single error.

I'm really at a loss as to how ram with that many problems would even allow me to boot into the OS. I'm even more at a loss for the build in memory testing tool that Windows 7 has, it's utter garbage as it ran two tests and didn't find one single error with the same ram that memtest found bookoos of.

Yeah memtest all the way. So have you tested it yet with your problem? Are your programs running ok now?

From what you say the ram is most likely your culprit then.

However I had a problem remarkably similar to this, I fixed it by installing intel's rapid storage ssd drivers for my motherboard.

Good luck

Should I install that Intel thing for my pc even though I'm using a crucial SSD?

Most things seem to be running fine now although Mass Effect did just crash on me.

I have the Crucial C300 ssd and run Intel's Rapid Storage technology. I was recommended to use it so if I were you, give it a go.

Also, how old was your RAM? That many errors is really weird!
