From what I've read, this is the 7950 to get. I hope it stays in stock for a few days so I can aquire some funds. Crossing my fingers . .

When you're at the $500 price point, why not pay a couple extra bucks for a 7970?

They're not easy to find right now either. The only non-ref available on newegg is the gigabyte windforce, and I'm not too fond of that cooler. If the MSI TFIII was in stock for both models, I would probably drop the extra $100 and get the 7970 though, you make a good point
post #7 of 17
I'd rather get a good custom cooled 7950 for $50 less than a reference 7970 because of temperature and noise issues. I like my card to be cool AND quiet, which allows more overclocking headroom too. A 7950 at the same clocks as a 7970 is only 3-4 fps worse off anyway, and it's pretty likely that you'll get a good overclock with a custom cooled 7950, along with quiet fans smile.gif.

Personally though I'm going to wait for Kepler. Not necessarily to go green, but to see if they force price drops on the 7 series. What ever turns out to be the best value at that point is the card I'll get thumb.gif

^ I was going to wait as well, but recently got $100 in newegg gift cards so $400 seemed reasonable and didn't feel like waiting for the high-end green team offerings.

Dang, with such low power consumption and heat, paired with such a big cooler, you're bound to get some killer overclocks..

BENCH!

BENCH!

That power consumption is misleading by AMD because the card is seriously underclocked to hit that TDP goal. wink.gif
