Having a major issue here.

Okay so tonight I walk into my room after having left my PC for an hour or so and the whole thing is frozen so I reset it. However after the windows logo, I lose my display and i hear the welcome chime of windows and messenger starting up. I had the same issue with my last NEC screen only it was also causing bluescreens (that I couldn't see, cause of the absence of picture) that I fixed that with a CMOS reset.

So any suggestions? I really don't need this crap right now.

Process of elimination by price.

Re-seat your card.
Try a different PCI slot.
Try a different cable if you haven't already.
Try a different GPU if you have one laying around.
Try a different PSU. (My recent video problems were PSU related.)

I'm sure others will have more input, but that's where I would start.

Christ, I hope it isnt ANOTHER hardware issue. This has only ever happened when I change screens.

Have you tried anything already?

Okay, so I switched from DVI to HMDI and then it would just hang at the "Starting Windows" screen. After another reset it asked to run System Repair, so I did and it restored my PC to 26/2/2012 and now it magically works again. Dunno *** just happened but knowing my luck I doubt I've seen the end of it. Will post again if the issue recurs.

Heh, now something even weirder happened. After switching back to DVI my display was still gone so in desperation I switched from the upper DVI output on my GPU to the one under it, rebooted, and now it works..... again. Dunno what the hell is going on but this isn't funny anymore.

Nah, the bluescreens were with my last monitor. And yes, I have the latest Nvidia WHQL drivers.
