3930k - Cooler? PSU?

Hi,

Seriously thinking about getting a 3930k and x79 mobo.

Questions are will a Thermalright Archon with two TY-140s in push/pull be good enough to cool the 3930k? And will a Seasonic S12II-430W have enough grunt to power everything? (I hope to recycle everything in my sig rig except of course the cpu and mobo!).

I cant speak for the cooler as im a water cooler. But that PSU may be on the low side and will not allow for expansion in the future. I can tell you that OCed to 4.625GHz that chip, a single HDD and a lowly ATI x900 (PCI-E only power) pulled 360W at the wall @ full load. With 90% your looking at 324W of actual useage. Now throw YOUR GPU in the ix and you are over that PSU's limits.

You're going to want at least a 600W unit. thumb.gif

Thanks - i should have pointed out that i'm no gamer, the most i do is watch a blu ray on my pc. my 6450 i believe pulls a maxiumum of 27watts under load. so as for expansion - nothing more than what i've already got will be going in. But i do get your point and in any case i can see it will be close to the limit.
