That is wrong, at least if you're talking about Dell. If you buy a business class product (basically anything that is not a dimension, XPS, or inspiron) the support will be in Tampa or Oklahoma City. Otherwise, yeah, they're in India or Pakistan or somewhere.

It isn't very hard to have good tech support when you have the most locked-down operating system, ecosystem, and hardware in the industry. This isn't a testament to Apple's good will, but to the nature of how they do business. I would be satisfied, too, with tech support if they helped me solve a problem that I should be able to solve on my own. I would be even more dissatisfied with their product if there ever existed a problem that their despotic business model prevented me from solving on my own. Just my observation really...tongue.gif

Mac? Locked down? On what planet?

Put Asus at the top of the worst list please. At my shop we have had nothing but delays, excuses and broken promises from Asus support. They have some good products at certain price points but their support is abysmal. Truly.

Mac is far from locked down. Much much much more freedom than in Windows. At least, if you know what you're doing and know your way around Unix-Like machines.

All the blind Apple/Mac hate here is simply astonishing.

Seriously, look up the job reviews on Glassdoor.com. They're forced to sell extended warranties and other useless services and that is given higher priority over repair. Apple is no different. It's a slightly above minimum wage job that requires no real tech knowledge or experience.
I don't understand why these rich filthy parasitic corporations cant at the very least have functional adequate customer service.
EDIT - The hilarious thing about Sony is that one of their support numbers has a Florida based area code, but when you call it you get redirected immediately to the Indian call center.

Haha, nobody is praising Apple. It's not like we are Apple fanatics, have you seen my Sig Rig? wink.gif

I'm fairly vendor agnostic when it comes to things.

Those are just my experiences. Apple has had the best customer service out of all I have talked to.

But remember, my experience might not be the same as someone else's. I can't say which company has the definite best, I can just let you know my experience.

As for the intelligence of the "Genius Bar", it's not high. But all I know is they resolve my issues quickly, they are nice and helpful, and I don't have to pay anything. Those are the qualities I look for when it comes to customer service. If need be, they can move me to a Level 3-4 CS Rep.

So anyone that expression disdain is automatically billed as "blind" just because the consensus here is as such? I guess anyone that says anything positive about OSX is "blind" as well if your logic is consistent. Its funny how some people think that just because Apple catches heat(sometimes unfairly) for shoddy business practices that it frees them from criticism.

Windows NT supports more platforms/instruction sets and more application programming interfaces than does OS X... How on earth does this make it less locked down the Windows?

I think it's funny you say that, cos I know plenty of Apple users that smoke you in computer knowledge. Just because you're technically inclined doesn't mean you shouldn't expect good customer support. There ARE issues even tech-savvy people can't fix, and when they need to make that call, it's good to have great support on the other end.
