I'm looking for a budget portable audio device. Out of these two?? Confused
Sony has 3-line lcd.....apple doesn't
Sony has EQ's.....apple doesn't
Apple is apple & sony is sony
Sony has fast charging(3min charge & playability of 90min)
Can't figure out which has better audio output
I'm inclined more towards sony considering above factors but what about music quality? If we emphasize solely on music quality then?????

amongst those two apple is the call, for quality sound a ipod is great as for in a 3k budget i would say a Transcend MP870 4GB is around 2.8k to 3k. 2GB is also available if you want something cheaper
Hope that helped thumb.gif

When it comes down to the sound quality difference between the two, unless you nitpick, they're be pretty similar. I'd say it really comes down to features, the sony simply has more over all. With the sony you have radio, voice recorder and the ability to choose which song you want to play, whereas the apple automatically shuffles everything (which can be good or bad).

Another thing to note, the ipod shuffle uses a proprietary cable to charge the battery whereas the sony just plugs into a usb slot.

All in all, I would say between the two, the sony would be a better buy.

those Sandisk Sansa Clip, are pretty good for the price. I personally wouldn't get the sony, not only is it ugly but the sony name has been lacking lately.
You need Itunes for the ipod's, I was able to use my old ipod nano with WMP with a plugin. But they might have gotten rid of that with the newer models. I will never use an apple device if it means I have to install itunes, that pos will never be installed on my pc.

The newest (6 gen I think?) iPod Shuffle no longer needs a proprietary cable, it comes with a simple 3.5 mm to usb cable.

If I were you I would just get a Sanasa Clip as mentioned above. They are usually cheaper than the Sony's and come with an lcd screen, fm radio and a good rep for sound quality.
