Does anyone know if it is like Fry's?
50% of all parts at Frys are garbage. The prices are not comparable to online retailers.
The stores are BIG, Dirty, Disorganized, and the Salesmen, oh the salesman are worthless when it comes to their information.

There's a couple microcenters in SoCal
Orange county and silicon valley

Yep, in Tustin, near Disneyland. Only been there once as gas to get down there is killer right now. Hoping for a MC up here in the desert some day soon.

Yeah I used to totally think the same, then my time became worth MUCH more and the last thing I have time for is; returning parts because they are missing crap, wrong parts because the service guy straight up LIES or misinforms me even though his damn JOB is to know that stupid aisle inside and out, has to return the part because it came out of a bad batch (Fry's/MC are sort of like Ross or TJ Maxx), or any of the many various problems that I have zero time for LOL.

I mean I know we are talking about times like this when I know what I want, and just going in there to get it cheap but a lot of times I just wish the sales people and support staff wern't so retarded.

QUESTIONS:

Q: What are some MUST HAVE links/threads/data for overclocking this config?

Q: What CHEAP throw-away 60hz monitor should I get him?

Q:What are some things I need to consider with this build

Q: What else should I do?

Overclock a sandy bridge i3 is next to impossible and for a 300Mhz m sure will not setup a LN2 nitrogen cooling setup the only thing overclockable is the GTX 560
have look at these sites Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) your card has core speed 810Mhz of which can be overclockable to ~900Mhz+ and with better cooling may reach 950 to1000Mhz

these video may help you and guide to how to overclock the card
short and sweet guide to help you overclock

this is a 560 Ti but just have a look how he is overclocking it
and here are the guides
http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/267/beginners_guide_to_overclocking_nvidia_video_cards/index.html
i would prefer MSi afterburner as its the best program for overclocking
http://mytechencounters.wordpress.com/2011/04/25/gpu-overclocking-overclocking-your-graphic-card/
http://www.bjorn3d.com/articles/Overclocking_with_MSI_Afterburner/1702.html
as far as testing and stability teset tryto avoid Furmark i personally dont prefer it as it "over stresses " the GPU which damage you GPU i would rather say run loop of 3DMark 11, Crysis warhead or 2 for 3 to 4hrs once to find the Max core Shader and memory Frequency untill then run small benchmarks on 10 to 15 mins thumb.gif
as for Monitor is it CRT or LCD whats the max res ???
i would consider a GPU cooler to be added as its the only thing that overclocks and if it does then y not max it out and get best free performance wink.gif

Hope that helped buddy thumb.gif

Super helpful! As always Tarun biggrin.gif

Okay but we are going to want to OC the RAM too right? Or no?

And we are setting up for a CHEAP 60hz 1080p.

And here is more info on the GPU. .

If you are already running at 1600Mhz, the most performance increase will come from OCing your GPU. BF3 loves them graphics!
