6850 for £90 ($140) Is it worth it?

I was going to get two GTX470's and SLI them to replace my failing GTS450's, but then I saw that Novatech has the XFX 6850 1GB on sale for £90, is it worth me buying these over the 470's and putting them in xFire? It does save me having to buy a new PSU but will the drop in performance be worth it? What's you opinion?

I mainly play BF3 at 1920x1080, Skyrim, Dirt 3, Mafia 2, etc.

I wouldn't go for it, I personally prefer Nvidia over AMD, but even so, I love my 470's, they generally over clock very well and are more than enough power to run any game on high settings, they do pretty well with my 30" monitor smile.gif

Well I'm happy with my 6850s, and they are good on power (I'm running 2 off of 630W). They play anything on high 1080p no problem, but remember some ultra textures require more than 1 GB or VRAM.

Gahh! Now i'm confused again. I know that 1GB is coming to the end of it's useful life, but I only game at 1080p so it's not like I'm using a massive res or anything. Or should I wait and see what kelper is like? worriedsmiley.gif

appleg33k85, I prefer nVidia also. I have never owned an AMD anything before, this would be my first time. Is it really worth getting the 470's over 6850's? Even with the cost of the new PSU? The 470's are of course much faster, but also much hotter and power hungry.
Thanks,
Warweo.

Re: 6850 for

Get the 470s. Two of them at 1080 should last a while. They are amazing.g cards for the price.
