Seeing what the FX4100 is capable of.. Currently at 4.6Ghz OC'd and 30C - Page 3

For safety reasons add 10 C to your coretemp reasons because of the FX temp bug.
Read that HW monitor and coretemp readings are off 8-10 C.

Is it me or do all FX chips need a boost of overvoltage except mine?
My FX-6100 is running 4ghz stable on 1.28 vcore which i think is standard.
Never gets over 43 C in prime under my mugen 2 /w 2 fans mounted.

Do i have a golden sample or something?

FX chips can overclock well with stock voltage but after some point they need loads of voltage to go higher.

This is incorrect, temps are spot on at 45-50c, they're only inaccurate at idle/low temps. (confirmed with IR thermometers etc.)

Nothing special, mine does 4-4.2Ghz on the stock 1.28vcore, after that it eats it up.

It's definitely just the idle temps that are off, atleast with CoreTemp. I've been trying to figure out what timings to use for my ram along with voltage. Same goes for my videocard, I want both of these to run faster. I'm also curious for recommendations on settings to try to run my FX @ 5GHz?

Ive not seen a good 24/7 5Ghz setup outside of "golden" chips.

Most settle around 4.4-4.8 depending on cooling and chip quality.

Good to know, but what settings should I try for my RAM and Video card?

RAM timings largely dont matter from my time with a BD system. And videocard settings for a cpu overclock... wut? My bad, missed that in the first post. I wouldnt know about OCing a GTX 200 series card as I havent owned one, sorry.

I would assume that you would just bump up the core 10-20Mhz at a time untill it show issues and then back up one step. Then do the same with the memory. MSI afterburner is a great tool for this.

Any update on your system stability or if the temperatures leveled out? I have the sabertooth990fx with the 4100 so I plan on going off your specs when I start overclocking. Just waiting on my cooling to get here, though I will only be using the H70 Core. Any thoughts on how I should dial it down? 4.6 would be ideal as well.
