[MP1st] Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Release Date Leaked - Page 11

Meh...gave up on COD long ago, don't care. Hardly play FPS anymore anyway. Whether its CoD, BF, or something else, they all feel the same to me.

Seriously what's with all the hate. If you don't like something fine, you don't have to like it. But you still have to realise there's a HUGE crowd that does. And that's who they're aiming for. So what if 2 thousand people spread across 2 or 3 forums don't like the game, there's another 10 million ready and waiting for the new one to come out.

And who cares if a couple thousand people hate Justin Bieber, there are a million more who love him. Ergo Justin Bieber makes excellent music and no one should complain about hearing him on the radio. There are valid criticisms, critics push them too far and fans will still like the game.

Not many valid critisms here though. Most people just seems to say " I Hate that game " , " It sucks " , etc.

Those who complain about graphics, still not valid critism, it's a game series built for consoles, and ported to PC. So most of the PC players here expect the best of the best graphics just because it's a new game. But forget, they're built for consoles and consoles have their limits. So if the PC player wants better graphics, they'll have to wait for a PC update or Mod to allow better graphics.

The hit box comment, that would be valid. An obvious flaw that has yet to get fixed and seemingly gets worse.

And the only issue I've experienced with BlOps/MW3 is with sniper rifles. Every once in a while you'll enter a game and no matter how good your aim is it just won't hit the enemy. You can be standing right in front of them aiming down the scope and still nothing. Although that would likely go back to the hit box register not working. But it only happens maybe once or twice every 10-15 games.

Now add the fact that they went the P2P route, they cut the costs of Hosting servers. They only need a few for logining in and stat tracking.
Apparently your to blind to realize they are milking you of every single dollar they can, and they feel no shame in doing so. They know fanboys and girls will buy the game regardless. So why bother? What in the last 4 years has really changed in COD? They just tweak the engine to push new textures, add new weapons, skins, and perks, and call it a day. Outside of that, the game has hardly changed.

It's a business, the goal is to maximize profits. Often corporations make bad long-term decisions, which give them increased profits for a short amount of time but screw themselves in the end. Milking a franchise can be one of those double-edged swords in which you get a lot of profit in the short-term by having many titles released quickly and cheaply, but your consumer base quickly loses interest and your profits drop off sharply. Either Activision is in that current scenario with the CoD series, or they're just continuing to make a product that people enjoy and will pay for. This is the story with EA sports and games like Madden Football. They continue to make tons of money off that series, and there is no reason for them to slow down and not continue making a new one every year.

The hit registration issue seemed much worse in MW3 than Black Ops. I didn't have many issues in Black Ops at all. I really enjoyed the game and its balance. The currency and challenge system was also a nice change in experience.

The sniper rifle issue just seems to be that there's a very random spread that occurs. Every few shots, one bullet will stray way off its target. I believe this happens because of the aim-assist for consoles and that it's not changed for PC.

How about this... I hate the COD series for the following reasons:
1. Scripted single player campaign that plays like a shooting gallery and never feels real. Complete lack of dynamic AI that results in boring sp campaigns that play exactly the same every play through and stifle player freedom.
2. Multiplayer that encourages lone wolf/camping style of game play.
3. Extremely low skill barrier to entry, noobs can learn the game in an hour and the skill ceiling is only inches from the skill floor. No tactics needed or useful.
4. Poor weapon balance that encourages player to use insta-gib weapons (ie snipers, nade launchers etc), making deaths all about who shoots first
5. Yearly sequels that made this style of gameplay boring years ago, not to mention setting standard like $60 pc games and no dedicated servers (for some cod games)
6. Activision, a company whose ceo has declared he wants to remove the fun from making and playing games, among a million other legit reasons to hate Activision.

That cogent enough for you?

Most being very subjective/opinionated.

1. Opinion, no game ever feels real to me. Nor do they feel like a shooting gallery. Both of which I have plenty of real experience with as I've served time in the military as well as do/did competition shooting every once in a while when I have time/money to do so. They feel like a game. Battlefield series feels the same to me. The only games that have felt remotely better have been the Rainbow Six, Socom and Ghost Recon series. Nice to be able to give your team commands instead of them just running off doing scripted stuff. But still, overall not a problem related to CoD. It's more of a problem with the overall majority of FPS games these days.

Overall, any FPS game with a storyline that they stick to is going to be and feel scripted. Can't get around that. Unless they make the game multi-option with multiple different cut-scenes and storylines depending on what you pick. It would make it feel more like you're in control of what happens, but it will still feel scripted to an extent.

2. Opinion, any other FPS that doesn't encourage lone wolf style or camping?

3. Opinion, low skill barrier bad? You mean you're upset because there's another 1000 kids out there as good as you at something. Man, what a shame. Here I thought games where everyone has a relatively equal chance was fun. There's very little 'skill' needed in a lot of games these days, especially in FPS. Very few FPS games these days need an stradegy or tactics. You want that go play an RTS game. But not needing tactics and having a low skill barrier is not just a CoD problem, it's an overall FPS problem.

4. Opinion, not many matches I've played where anyone uses a grenade launcher, lol. Snipers of course are strong, as they are in real life. You get shot with a .50 or even a socom round in the shoulder from just about any range, your arm will be laying on the ground. You get shot with an AK/M4 or just about any other normal caliber weapon, you'll have a hole in your arm, be a little sore, but you'll still trek on. Pretty normal to me.

5. Opinion, and somehwhat false, each year and alternate company/series releases a game. WaW/MW/BlOps all alternated releases. Using the same engine, which is why they'll feel the same. Standard pricing is standard wink.gif. No dedicated servers goes back to it being a CONSOLE PORT.

6. Nothing to do with the game. And if you have a problem with activision then that's your problem. They're still setting record sales each year, must being doing something right wink.gif

These are just your opinions, really, and they don't really describe Black Ops except maybe the first one. Lone wolves and campers are in EVERY game, not just CoD. Even in games that don't encourage it. What is wrong with games being noob friendly? At least Black Ops require some skill because of the weapon balance and the power to counter every kill-streak. Arcade shooters will always be about who shoots first.. almost every shooter is about who shoots first. That also contradicts your statement about being noob friendly.. since the person with better reflexes and more skill will get the first shot off. It would be more frustrating to be trying to get the first shot off but still die. Some people don't find the game boring. And finally, Activision doesn't have as much control over Treyarch as they do Infinity Ward. Treyarch has their own ideas and beliefs. Infinity Ward is now just an off-shoot of Activision, now that 90% of the original team is gone.

There's some stuff I don't like about the Call Of Duty series, but I think many people hate on Black Ops just because it has the Call Of Duty name, not because of legitimate reasons.

I really think that COD will continue to succeed just because of the hype that surrounds it. The wide age range of players and the easy learning curve are very appealing to most players. I haven't bought COD since MW2 and I will just accept the fact that it will just keep selling and watch as consumers preorder and keep buying these games. I personally won't be buying another COD but I'm sure that the large audience of teens that beg parents during holiday season will alone keep this franchise alive. tongue.gif
