How do I get my PC to boot off the DVD? My dvd is secondary. Do I have to switch the cables? Also, If I intall to my secoundary slave and it has three partitions, will Vista over write the whole HD or will it set up on one of the empty
partitions?

you can install it on a partiton, when you are installing you can pick the partition. Also make sure the partiton is atleast 15 gigs, 20 to be safe. I would install it to your other hard drive, because 1, I don't think booting off a cd with vista is possible, and 2 it would be very very slow.

I have my 1 hard drive with 5 partitons and it works fine. Its just like installing windows xp on a particular partiton.

You should be able to switch what rom drive your system boots from in the bios. If not just swap the cables. As for over writing the whole hdd, the vista installer should pick up your partitions and allow you to just select one of them.

If you want to boot from the CD you have to go to the BIOS and then change the boot order so the CD drive is first.

but to get it to boot off the dvd, you would have to install it to a dvd, and and I am pretty sure that fully installed vista is bigger then a dvd, and even more so a DL-dvd. So no I don't think its possible. I mean even if you had a way to do that, I still don't think its a good idea.

Install it on a partiton and be done with it.

Just my

no you do have to burn the ISO. I think I miss read your question. lol I though you were asking if you can boot vista off of a dvd. not the installer.

yea as they said, theres no partitioning involved or wire changing etc. jus set ur dvd drive too boot first in the boot order menu located in ur BIOS.
