Ubuntu won't install from CD (Now with pretty pictures!) - Page 2

I would set everything to normal (bios), unplug everything but the essentials and only one HARD DISC DRIVE (forget the SSD)...

If it will not boot then, I would definitely suspect a HARDWARE ISSUE (as in something wrong with your PC) or something is wrong with the edition of WUBI? you are installing..

Why not go get a real Ubuntu ISO?

Horrible thing Wubi is, best not to use it.

Try installing from a USB.

I made sure my phone wasn't connected and only mouse and keyboard were connected by usb

Only OCZ Vertex 2 connected, BIOS reset to defaults

Note the message in the first line, could that be a reason for concern?

What do you mean by a real ubuntu ISO? I downloaded the 64-bit image form their site...

I'll try again with only my Barracuda installed, but it is in a strange Dynamic NTFS format in windows. I don't know how it got that way, but i cant offload it's contents to reformat it because I don't have a big enough external

EDIT: Tried it with BIOS reset to default, same results in both IDE and AHCI mode. I unplugged all the things including a monitor and my Ethernet cord, but left m+KB and one monitor plugged in:

This error message will pop up again and again after about 30seconds:

I had something like this happen once and my phone was plugged in via usb.
Edit: got to head out, but try and see what is said before the trace back dump. you should be able to hold shift and hit pageup. Also see if you have any types or raid options you could mess with in your BIOS. Are you installing this on your sig rig? how much ram do you have if not.
Also what do yo have plugged into your pci slots?

Yes i am installing this on my sigrig "Ruby" She has 6GB of ram normally ran @ 1600Mhz and 8-8-8-24 timings. I have a Rosewill Wifi card in a PCI slot, a Creative X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty edition sound card in a PCIEx1 slot and i have 2 EVGA Nvidia 580s SLI in my first and last PCIEx16 slots and they are connected by an SLI bridge. I cant really test with one GPU in because they are water cooled in a single loop, and it's a pain to take them out.

Really doubt its the gpus. Its a long shot thats its the wifi card. If it does not recognize it, it should just continue without it. also your iso should be fine tho did u check the md5? Could try a different distro and see if that loads

Whats is this md5 checksum? i see this from time to time but i have no idea what it means or how to use it...I'll probably try Debian. I really want to learn what teh big deal is about Linux. Ubuntu says it has some cool integration with android, but i really just want a taste of the Linux kool-aid.

Ditch Ubuntu, try Mint. Maybe it'll give you some different results.

Which version of mint would you recommend for a noobie who wants to see what Lionux has to offer over Windows? I know Linux cant compare to Windows for gaming, but other than that...

Should i get Mint 12? Mint 12 KDE? Mint Debian? What are the major differences?
