NEWS!
Google has released its first build of Chrome that supports Metro. Keep in mind I have tried it and the Metro is separate from the original desktop even tho they use the same shortcut. I noticed all my cookies didn't roll over to Metro. I'm sure this will be fixed in future versions as its only in development stages atm. This version also fixes the default browser bug (getting chrome to become system default).

I've already used it in my lappy smile.gif Find it awesome. But on my new main computer, I've had so many driver issues that it's taken 3 days to get the drivers sorted out. And the Xonar DX is still having problems, even w/ the "bug free" UniXonar drivers.

Has anyone noticed yet that within the Remote desktop metro application, you can watch videos lag free! I was remoted in to my windows 8 desktop at home from my windows 8 machine at work, and just for fun I tried playing a movie on my home computer to see what it would do. I was kinda amazed that it worked quite well!!! I'm sure i'm not the only one who has noticed this, but I still just wanted to share tongue.gif

Haven't tried it yet, maybe I should check it out. Microsoft seems to revamp Remote Desktop protocol every build of Windows now. biggrin.gif

I decided to give 8 a try when I read that it had better support for my 8 core processor, my benches seem to corroborate this.

Took a while to get used to the 'metro' thing, I hope they include the option to disable it in the full release.

Here is my verification, I'm currently testing overclock settings so my vcore is set higher than necessary:

225

One thing I've noticed is that 8 seems invulnerable to bad memory boots, which is outstanding! thumb.gif

I'm very happy with the OS overall, IE10 is very buggy though.

Nvidia released a new driver for my 460 yesterday, so check their site if your running green.

Hi,

I cannot install Windows 8, it says something like "unable to find or to write in the selected partition". I created a dedicated partition :

51

Windows 8 partition is F:\ I thought maybe I have too much partitions and that could be the problem...

I suggest formatting the partition before installing so that the Windows 8 installer will be able to recognize it.

Windows 8 offers many behind the scenes improvements and optimizations over Windows 7 and Vista so expect better performance in everything all around.
As for metro, it is a core part of the UI and unfortunately I don't think they will have the option to hide or remove it. It literally is the new start menu so try to use it like the old one despite the differences. Also try to learn keyboard shortcuts as well as "the 4 corners". Those will give you access to everything in the system.
