A simply change in the BIOS won't work, in fact if you change it in BIOS without having the hard drive setup as a GPT it won't even boot into Windows. The fast boot option in your BIOS is something entirely different, fast boot has been around long before UEFI. Only way you'll get the boot partition to a GPT is by either setting UEFI while you first clean install Windows or by partitioning your MBR after the fact.

You are thinking of something entirely different than I am. I was talking about the new Windows 8 Ultra Fast Boot capability. It requires a UEFI enabled motherboard, Windows 8, and a UEFI GOP enabled graphics card. I could run this on my system if I had a capable graphics card. As far as I am aware there are no graphics cards currently available that support UEFI GOP but there are some companies like EVGA, that are considering adding it in a VBIOS update.

Hi smile.gif

So last night I shut down my net-book with W8 installed. And today I boot it up, look in Task manager and it says Up time 10 hours headscratch.gif

So, is Shut down broken?

edit, fixed it smile.gif

It's a program called "Decor8" by Stardock.

How are you getting to that menu? I don't show anything with an option about faster after shutdown, in my power settings.

It's not there if you have hibernation disabled to save space or for whatever reason.

I tried fast boot the other day, disabled it after 1 day frown.gif when I shut down with fast boot enabled the graphics card and motherboard LEDs stay on and light up the room, I thought it shut down properly but it's basically hibernate.. :l
