I had endless BSOD... in Windows 8. I just reverted back to Win7 once and for all be gone BSOD. Yes you can say Drivers related, believe me I tried to fix it for 5 days and testing different drivers from all over the web. I gave up.

Win7 now is like smooth as butter. Sorry to say, Win8 isn't mature yet.

If you are having problems with Windows 8 right now, I would wait a little bit. I am sure they will be fixed in a couple months.

I had a lot of strange BSODs and other hardware issues after switching to Win 8. Turned out that the Intel chipset drivers hadn't actually installed, so I went through and installed them individually for each component and then installed my other drivers individually. Since then plain sailing, even moreso than on Win 7. I was ready to downgrade at first as well, but I'm glad I now know who to blame and, at least in my case, it isn't MS.

Do you guys actually like Metro, or install Classic Shell over it?

I tried to like it, I really did. But it ruined my laptop battery life, and the performance gains were negligible, so its not worth it for me. 7hrs to 3hrs, its a driver issue that may be fixed later. I might upgrade if its worth it, but I don't want to use Metro at all. Its garbage, it feels cheap and shoehorned. The only change to most people power and low end users is the graphical interface. There are no killer features on there, and the GUI is a step backwards.

I hope they return basic stuff like Aero and the way the menus were in XP... I hated the change to Personalize and Display Options... and they removed some options I used. I can't even change the colour I used to be able to!

I actually like Metro. Overall, I think it is a preference between individuals. At first I used ClassicShell, but I decided to just try and work with MetroUI. I am not a fan that they did away with the Aero options you could change, like transparency on the taskbar, but you learn to deal with it. As for the battery life, I haven't seen much difference from Windows 7, and I have brought my laptop to college. MetroUI seems to be easier to organize as well, which is a nice feature. I am sure if you give it a few weeks, and learn the shortcuts you will feel the same way with Metro. As to the battery life issue on your laptop, contact your Laptop's manufacturer and see if they have an update planned for the driver in Windows 8.
