Local account, the mail app seems to be the only app that is worth using. But the messenger and other apps seem to be useless if your a big time IM user like me. Plus the messenger app automatically signs you off every 10 minutes or so, which is a drag to me. I prefer all my information being stored locally where im in control of it instead of on the "cloud".

Thanks for the feedback. smile.gif

Any idea if there is a Netflix tile/app that can launch from Metro? Or do I have to hack a tile somehow, and if so, how? tongue.gif

( edit )

I see now - can pin a website with IE10. Got it - but any 'live' Netflix apps/tiles yet?

I think the new Visual Studio is or is just about to launch. So it might be a little while before you notice any native apps as developer have to learn all this new code.

Local.

I don't like the feeling that (after linking FB and MS) my account logs in on FB chat and WLM automatically and there doesn't seem to be a decent way to control it, you can show as offline but friends were seeing me as online anyway and after every reboot you'd have to re-enable it. I don't really like the cloud idea either.

The e-mail app is nice.

I suppose if you don't mind all that and you want to be able to easily sync all your settings between several computers, it's handy.

Did you try installing the chipset driver manually? Look in my main post for the guide on how to install video drivers manually.

Thanks for the introduction!

There is really nothing wrong with the server edition as long as you don't mind missing out some luxuries such as the included Metro apps, custom themes, and image previews in Explorer. I believe the image preview thing is possible to reenable via some service but I'd rather just keep the OS as barebones as possible. I like to view the desktop OS as being a road legal sportscar while the server OS is a stripped down racing car.

As far as compatibility goes everything runs fine on my main sig rig. All I needed to do to get gaming is install the display drivers and that was it. It also doesn't hurt to install .Net 3.5 through the server manager. The only weird thing I've noticed is that CS:S likes to slow down when looking at 40+ crowds of players. It never did that on the Server Beta. I haven't played CS:S in a while so it could also be some update they did. Otherwise all of the other games I've played on it have run well.
