Hello all, I am in a decision process right now. I got Windows 8 64 bit from my school back in November. So I installed it on a separate partition on my HDD and started to play around with it. It wasn't really that bad but it had a lot of font rendering issues with Rainmeter.. plus, my antivirus didn't support it. So I uninstalled Windows 8 and deleted that whole partition particularly for those reasons, but I didn't really mind it with Start8. Now I read that some of my issues are solved and I am interested to get back into Windows 8, and my interested grew even higher when I heard of an Aero hack finally coming back and RetroUI, a much better start menu option. Now here's a big issue... I recently bought an SSD. I am wondering if my SATA drivers will work well with Windows 8 or not. I may delete some stuff on my SSD to make some room to dual boot it but I don't want to delete Windows 7 just to find out my SATA drivers will not work.... Anyone have any experience on an X58 motherboard with SSD SATA drivers for Windows 8? My motherboard is an Asus P6x58D-E. Thanks! smile.gif

I can't say for certain, but it should not be a problem. Windows 8 does have better support for recent hardware, and especially for SSDs.

EDIT: You can download a live Linux and use it to shrink your main partition. openSUSE works for this as long as it's the live disc. I'm not sure if Windows supports shrinking partitions.

Just wondering. I want to use my copy of Windows 8 on my MacBook, how would I go about getting the ISO, or better yet, how would I go about activating it since I didn't get a code or anything (I upgraded digitally)?

How old is it? I don't think you'll have problems though. If it's really a problem, you can usually just install Windows 7 drivers. I do know that Windows 8 has native USB 3.0 support though.

I'm pretty sure Windows 8 will handle the drivers for it by itself. I've installed it on an older board than that and it worked flawlessly.
I agree 8 should have all the necessary drivers. And try 7 drivers, some will work. Would have been nice if Asus updated the drivers though.
