Xbox 360 Slim: No video output via HDMI and not detecting controllers

Thread Starter
I decided to dust off my Xbox 360 Slim tonight to play some console games (gasp) like Halo.

Anyways, I connected the HDMI cable to my TV (1080p resolution) and everything else and turned on the console.

No output, and I tried connecting both of my controllers (one wired and one wireless, neither will connect).

No error light patterns have appeared, the console seems to work just fine, other than this.

There is an issue where the console won't boot when using HDMI, but it only occurs if the TV is off or on a different AV channel. It won't connect controllers if it's not boothing either.

Try a different video output if yo can.

Like composite A/V? I'll have to scrounge around for those then :S

Edit: Just realized something... It's ironic how the console fanboys say that PC gaming is too complicated, and yet this pops up >_>

Turn your tv to a HDMI input and then turn on the xbox. Try turning it on with the wired controller.

Issues happen WITH all technology. Consoles are not exempt. If you can't find another type of cable then try a different TV or HDMI cable. Like I said, I won't boot if it is unable to output video on HDMI and controllers won't connect until it can boot.

That much is true..

Unfortunately, even with the composite cables, no output. The console did detect my controllers though.

Well, guess my night will be spent doing something else.

Sorry to hear that. You could always try another TV for last resort, though I'm not sure if it will do anything.

I don't have another TV, the thing is that the console is not showing any red lights, when I load a game, the disc drive seems to spin up normally.. Just no video output.

Strange indeed.

Try another TV???

I assume the 360 isn't anything like the PS3 where you have to do a hard-reset when you switch the output type?
