DO NOT buy the H100 trust me it is GARBAGE! Most of the units have a few problems with them that end up rattling or grinding so hard you will have to RMA it and it usually takes 2 or 3 units to get a good one. Also it hardly cools better than your current cpu cooler does and it louder! I don't mean to crap on this thread and take the opportunity away from someone to get a free cooler, but I went from good air to the H100 and I regret it so badly I wish I could go back and not have purchased this garbage cooler. The whole line of Hydro series by Corsair is flawed just go on their support forum and read the endless pages of people with the horrible noise issues and complaining about their air coolers doing at least on par cooling and doing it quieter.

You have been warned.

Also if you do decide to get it I am in for this as I would LOVE to replace my H100. I've been thinking about going in and buying a Noctua air cooler to replace my H100 and RMA it for the SECOND time and just sell it when I get it back.

I will say this, I installed my H100 today and i'm not completely impressed with it. I had been using a Hyper 212 evo with 2 gentle typhoons in a push pull config and it seems to me that the H100 is about @ the same temps. I will wait a few more days before I make a full judgement as today was around 87 degrees and the warmest day I have had this year so far. The H100 kept my i7 2700k @ 4.9Ghz at an idle of 39 to 41c. I had started off with 4 typhoons in push pull on the H100 but that was actually giving me worse temps (42c to 45c idle). After about 7 different case fan configs it seems to work best for me top mounted with 2 typhoons top mounted pulling air in, the front fan as an intake, the side fan as an intake and the rear fan running a bit faster than the rest as the only exhaust. has my temps @ 38c idle. I also just turned on my central air tonight due to possible storms in the area (can't have windows open) so I guess I'll get a better reading under a controlled climate.

EDIT: I should also note the fans it comes with are crazy loud on performance mode, you'll want to swap those out if possible. other than that I had no noise at all with the unit and with just 2 typhoons on it I can barely hear it at all. So I am quite happy about the noise reduction but I'll get back to you about temps. biggrin.gif

Just wait for the pump grind... it might be two days or it might be two months, but be sure it is coming and then... you will want to destroy your computer.

I really do need a better cooler for my sigrig, currently I cannot fold 24/7 due to the noise my stock cooler makes (my rig's in my bedroom). I'm in.

Not trying to derail this thread at all but The pump noise / grinding sound is covered over on the Corsair forums, They basically said if your sending 12v or more to the pump it will cause that noise as it starts vibrating too fast. If you use your bios or a fan controller to limit the pump to about 90% of full power it normally takes that sound away. Also, with my central air on overnight and the room set to 70 degrees, I ran prime then went to bed. I woke up and prime was still running max temps were 60 to 64c. Once I stopped prime, the ildes were 29 to 32c. so it is about 2 to 3c off the Hyper 212's idles and about 4 to 5c off the max temps I was seeing. I'm a little more pleased with it today.

I appreciate the heads up, but I didn't buy this on a whim. I thought it through very carefully. I have two 580 lightnings folding 24/7 as well as my CPU and they dump serious heat into my case. So much so that the worlds best air cooler just wouldn't do the job because it only has access to hot air to use for cooling. I'm going to externally mount this rad on top of my case with 4 ultra kaze fans in pp into my case (its a lanboy) so it will have plenty of cool air rather than hot. It'll be loud, but it'll be cool. I've got a fan controller to hook it to and noise doesn't bother me.

I have a HAF-X and after about 14 hours of re-mounting the H100 from bottom , top, even side mounting, with push, pull, and both as intake and exhaust, it seemed to work best top mounted pulling air into the case and I have a front 220mm intake and side 200mm intake. The rear 140mm runs 2x as fast as the intake fans (all the intake fans are between 800 and 1200 the rear exhaust fan runs 2100rpm) and the setup is working well with that configuration. I believe your lanboy case has tons of "open air" panels if I'm not mistaken and it should do well in a climate controlled room.
