How to improve skill in BF3 (or any FPS for that matter)? - Page 2

Really don't listen to samwiches. you don't need more than 40 fps unless you have money to burn or you plan on going pro.

Sorry, I'm not here to pick on anybody but those were rude and ignorant posts.

There is a world of CRT gaming behind us that is just now being resurrected with 120Hz flat panels.

Honestly, if you can't see 100 FPS and you're also a knowitall then you can't be helped.

And seriously, you're ~probably~ not one of the best shooters on one of the best teams around.

In BF3 first play TDM games to get good with actual shooting. Then play Large Conquest. Its best to play with a friend at least. In BF3 never never try to run in a open area. Basically you have to watch the mini-map. Spot the enemy and strategically kill him. Go from spot to spot and look and keep moving.

The majority of what he said is actually right, the way he approached it though was wrong.

You're playing Battlefield 3, where no one in this game has any idea what footsteps noises even are. On top of that, the majority of BattleField players have absolute garbage hand eye coordinating. How good you're at this game will hardly transfer over in CS/Quake. The basics will obviously transfer over (aiming, etc) but in game smarts will hardly transfer over as the majority of the players in BattleField are idiots.

Not needing a wired mouse, 120Hz monitor, etc is fine and all. It does on the other hand give you a advantage over those who don't.

Surround sound headphones though, that's a no no. Grab a pair of good quality large sound stage stereo headphones.

sorry to say but there was only 1 ignorant post that was made and it was by you. Stating he needed 85 fps with a 120hz/crt monitor and surround sound "gaming" headphones.... then you make a childish comment right after regarding to those of us here as "nubs" because we did not receive "hackusations" (as you call them)?

All this coming from the guy with 12 posts ?

with the way your acting providing false information then getting all upset on being called out on it.... your not going to go very far here.

The OP only needs 60 FPS with whatever graphical settings he can use to obtain that and he could even go with lower FPS if he feels it works fine for him. so no, he does not need a monitor above 60hz since most gamers are totally happy with 60fps, the only reason to go for a 120hz monitor is if you had the money and there is no reason not to gain those extra fps. And the comment stating he needed a surround sound gaming headset is something that nobody here will ever agree with. "Surround sound" in headsets are all just a major gimmick to get "gamers" to rush out and purchase their product. The "surround sound" is all fabricated with software and is not actually surround sound. You can achieve the same fake "surround sound pretty much with any decent pair of headphones using a soundcard.

So please next time before spouting off false information and acting very childish about the situation do some research before making a post, doing so will get you much further within this community.

BF3 is as much a game of planning and prediction as it is a game of skills and accuracy. It does matter how good of a shot you are if your opponent can read the situation and your moves like a book.

When I'm playing I'm constantly looking where my team is and where everyone else is. If you can see where your team is, how often they are dying, you can predict where your enemy is. You can predict where you enemy will go and what they will do. This is hard to explain in text. A simple example is long range sniping. Let's say it takes 2 hits to kill them since you can't get headshots yet. When infantry are running around you have to predict where they are running to kill them. To predict this you should take into account whether or not they saw you, if they know where the bullet came from, what class they are, where your team is, where their team is, where the nearest cover is and so many more factors.

Since we're posting pics this is me with the AN-94, Heavy Barrel, 3.4x scope using a 2 shot burst with a magnum on 64 metro conquest. It was a bit of a campyish game, but it takes a bit of skill to use the AN-94. At first I sucked with it, but you should try out all the weapons and get a few upgrades for them.
So far my average KDR is 3.2, though I enjoy metro and sniping, I still run and gun and grab conquest points.

Buy an expensive gaming keyboard and mouse and you're instantly a pro.
