I play FPS game's to vent frustration and have fun. I'm a good player. Nothing special every now and then I will have an epic run and murder everything..other game's not so much lol. but I have a blast doing it. I could care less if some one else can play a video game better than me, I have a real life too lol.

Don't get me wrong dude. Games and especially FPS are awesome. I can even understand wanting to get better at a game. Going on 5+ kill streaks is awesome. But there's that and then there is taking it way too seriously.

These are basically the raiders of the non-mmo gaming world. I don't know if you've ever met the 40 hour a week MMO raider people but they are literally the funniest group in the world.

Yep, sure have. My wife's brother is one of them. He even lived with us for a short time. As long as the power to his room and the interwebs were up and running we would hardly ever see/hear form him. Kinda sooky. I spend a lot of time playing game's and on the PC but yea..

I think there's genuinely some things out of your control. BF3 is heavily team based, and no matter how skillful you are, if your team sucks, you're going to die, repeatedly.

With this said, i don't exactly have much "On foot" experience myself. I fly, constantly, and have done since release. I've invested around 55 hours in the Venom/transporter chopper alone:

In this game ,you rarely find me with my feet on the ground. And when you do, expect me to have many deaths. lol.

As for flying though, i can say from experience a wired mouse/keyboard will help, plus a consistent framerate and good ping. Only half of those i actually have.

I'd definitlely suggest a headset, sound-whoring helps you play better . biggrin.gif

I think the fun factor would increase exponentially if I could play with a squad of guys who know what they are doing and can communicate with each other.
I guess I'll keep practicing but as far as strategy is concerned, any further ideas?
For this I think you'll have to find a clan, or just some people around to play with... I mean I play with three other people pretty much every night on the other side of the country who I've never met irl, doesn't worry me one bit and I still have heaps of fun smile.gif

You're okay with those framerates?????? Wow man.
That really is good for that setup... I do have to agree with you this time though, having consistent frame rates helps a lot(as long as it's around or over the 50 FPS mark you should be good).

But the first time I loaded up MW2 I could not believe how accurate and WIDE the effect was---it was a complete surprise. You need to be your own judge of sound quality, though. And you may need to set your OS or games for 5.1/7.1 for it to work, but I haven't bothered with any testing of that.

You do realise games already have 'directional sound' don't you? You know that setting in your average FPS that lets you select your sound setup? It lets the game most effectively make use of your setup and give you 'directional sound' by messing with what ear hears what. Our ears do only hear two channels, it's how much sound of what goes into each ear that makes us have directional hearing. This is why I think these headsets are gimmics and I'm much better buying headphones that I can use for listening to music as well without sounding absolutely horrible through my xonar thumb.gif

I find it's all about repetition. This game and other FPS can be very repetitive in nature, certain ways people can funnel through openings, expectations of where vehicles may appear, usual camping spots by those really bad players.

Its a constant guessing game for me, and Deja Vu. Just play the game and you will learn how to get better, its all practice I say.

"Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories."

Depends on the game and game mode. COD? Rambo-mode.
BF3? Take some damn cover, always carry an anti-vehicle weapon. You aren't going to win the battle by yourself, rest assured. Adjust DPI/sensitivity to preference. Focus. (Know how to meditate? Just say any word repeatedly in your head. "focus focus focus" even "milk milk milk milk" you'll start understanding/feeling focus. Seriously try it, I bet after 8 or 10 milks your mind will start wander.) Know your enemy, understand their motives or intentions. Tanks can actually hide very well if you're good. Don't take vehicles head on, their ass end is way more vulnerable.

Know your maps, this one is huge, I know that corner that you're behind and the only escape routes. I know which way you're going to run because it appears safe, oh hey that's a grenade smile.gif It's always better to at least waste your nade than never use it. If you start with your lol I need FPS and low settings to be 1337, then you're just looking for excuses to perform poorly. I game with anywhere from 34-85 FPS and on a good run I go 36-9. Someone will always top your performance. Someone will always be having a better game than you are. Do not get mad bro. You're going to make yourself look like an ass and your frustration will only degrade performance. Stay alert, know your side. If you're Russians and you hear "I'm pinned, I'm pinned I need back up!" Obviously that was an American, the enemy. Learn to lead. The game's netcode is bad enough, at least this way they're guaranteed to run directly into your bullets. Go prone, A LOT. As soon as that first bullet hits you followed by an immediate second, get on your stomach. That clearly means another barrage is coming. Find your groove, rock out to some jams, some music will make you confident. That's game mechanics now it's time for the mental aspect.

"SCREW YOU NOOB YOU SUCK YOU'RE A NOOB." You're mad because he killed you, you're only going to stay mad and that won't help. Get cocky, tell yourself, I am the god damn commander of this stuff, this is my HOUSE. Bringin' that trash around here... Is your team sucking? No probably just you. Stop hiding so much, man up and shoot some stuff. Are you really anxious about virtual bullets? If you're support, don't be a douche, drop ammo plz. If you're a sniper, don't be useless with your 10-15. Stop trying for kills, set up a soflam, get the MAV running, spot incoming vehicles, do whatever but don't waste bandwidth for your terrible shot. If you can keep me from getting knifed like a bau5, by all means snipe away. If you're assault, use your defib plz. It's as much points as it is a kill, why not...? If you're an engineer and say we're in a game of rush. Our (my) one and only tank is on fire and disabled...repair it so we still have an edge..? Squad up, don't lock squads when all squads are 4/4 and the only one left is 3/4 and you're the only guy not in a squad. That's what douchebags are. Talk smack, do it, get fired up, get them pissed, let the enemy focus on typing instead of fighting. If you can't fly, don't. If you can at least fly enough to let your guys drop off, have it, but if you can't get off the carrier, don't waste valuable resources. All weapons are different when you give them accessories. A 4x scope will do you a lot better in Capsian Border, than say a RDS on Grand Bazzar.

The most and important final one.

GET YOUR NOOBSAUCE TACLIGHT AND LASER OUT OF MY FACE. THANKS.

tl;dr man up, get kills, focus, hit your target. If you're one guy in behind enemy lines and you see multiple hostiles inbound, you're an idiot if you actually try to start something. If you see a tank drive past, don't pursue it, you'll get killed or he has teammates right behind him. You're not forced to shoot at enemies, I've won rounds by NOT shooting at someone because they ran right past me.
