Have you been living under a rock? You hear Apple rumors about support for hi-DPI stuff and you think it's new? You automatically assume that because Apple is about to do it, that no one else has done it before? Where have you been for the last 10 years??? Apple is slow and crappy, period. If you bothered to actually investigate anything other then Apple stuff you would already know this.

Is that actually Hi-DPI stuff or is it just stretching everything?

What's your problem?

You assume a lot about me, and you're wrong on all counts. I can't be bothered giving you a proper reply since your post is just trolling.

By your logic, most people can't afford a new car, so auto manufacturers should strip out all the features.
Also, for what it's worth... my phone was $99 with contract. Hardly top of the phone price bracket.

You are paying way more for your phone than its worth through your contract, so you paying 99 is just an illusion. Also MS are releasing 8 different version of Windows 8 to cater to those who can't afford the most expensive ones. Thus your claims are fallacies.

Interesting that you'd mention high end slates because current ones won't be able to run Win 8 either, so, even they aren't 'high end' enough for MS.

Now I wish we didn't have to wait two years for xbuntu ARM version.

They don't need eight versions of Windows. They could do two, or even three, and that'd be okay. But eight? ... eek!

I actually like Apple for the sue fact.

This makes companies think outside the box and make NEW things.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Example: Instead of Microsoft just going okay I'll just make a tablet like the ipad in features, they did it there own completely different way. It's good Apple scares companies like that. (this doesn't apply with everything just this and some)

No, it's not Hi-DPI. It just zooms in and stretches the boxes wider. There aren't higher resolution images of the content available. Maybe Win8 will include some but haven't heard anything about it. Applications are responsible for providing their own higher resolution images in OSX if they want to use Hi-DPI. The Text DPI adjustment in Windows is more of an Accessibility feature for people with vision problems. You can't just blow up a bitmap image. That kid seems to think that Hi-DPI means zooming... Don't even bother with them.

There should be an option to toggle among Metro only, Desktop only, or both.

Thanks for the clarification, that's what I thought.
