My first Intel build after 15 years, recommendations..

Thread Starter
I want to get a 3770k in April, but I need a working rig within this week..

I'm thinking about a p67 Maximus as I don't need the integrated graphics, so, meanwhile, would pairing it up with a used 2500k/2550k be a good choice..?

You really can't go wrong with the i5-2500k. Even at stock, it's one of the fastest processors ever made. And it OCs like a beast.

Actually, if you are going the i3 route, then you might want to look into the T versions. The T versions of the i3 (e.g. i3-2120T) have a lower TDP, and therefore a lower heat and power envelope. This makes them ideal for closet servers or HTPCs. So if you are interested in that kind of application, then after you get your IB processor, taking the i3, paired with, say, a mini-itx board, would make a great lower power server.

I'd go with p8p67 pro ..or maximus4 ..and like..a pentium g850 or something..for a month or two
tbh..I would do the gene-z ..but that's just me wink.gif
Hmm..just remembered I've read about some OCing issues with sabertooth and maximus.
Can vouch for p8p67 pro is rock-solid
