Is my 5870 artifacting?

Thread Starter
Lately I've noticed in Crysis 2, these black boxes appearing in the game.

I am unsure if it's a driver issue, an issue from the game itself, or an actual artifact of the card.

Seems the best way is to test the gpu out with other games that have similar or heavier workloads. And/or you could up/downgrade your drivers and see if you still have these problems.

use ATiTool,it has a good artifact tester.

Hi farmdve. Like the first guy said, testing some other games would allow you to see if it is just Crysis 2. As it appeared out of the blue too, have you made any changes that coincided with this?

Don't take this and run with it, but it looks like it. I had the same type of artifacts on my old 4870 x2. For me, I believe it was a vram issue.

I don't recommend this, but a bake fixed mine.

My 4870 used to run 40 on water and the ram was 48c with ram sincs. I bet the ram is over heating but 120c is cooking your gpu. I didn't sugest to carefully sell that card before it dies did I?
