Oh no... an ARM edition? Does that mean we won't get full native Windows 8 support for applications on the ARM edition?

This is very disappointing news. While I understand having different feature sets of windows at different price points, having too many like this is unnecessary and reeks of greed and exploitation. I thought MS was trying to rebuild some good will?

Maybe I'm still just cynical over having bought Vista Ultimate (yeah i know), and then having to buy Vista SP3 aka Windows 7, but going with the Home Premium instead- not needing any of the "ultimate" features, except one, which I now get screwed out of using some of my RAM. Thanks MS.

I realy don't understand what the fuss is for, and about. Yes, metro is new for a desktop. I get that. Why do people insist on digging their heels in and rejecting something that they could learn to love, and not live with out. I understand you have to take a few extra steps to get to a comfort zone.... but stepping outside of it for a minute to give something an honest chance is not asking for a miracle.
I rather enjoy seeing the progress of W8. I can't sit here and say I "love" metro, but I will atleast give it a chance. At first glance most of the traditional shortcuts can sit as an "app" in metro. Yes, it's a bit confusing to shutdown\restart. You can make a shortcut for that if you so desire.

Progress begins with change. Embrace it, or be left behind.

I am willing to bet that as soon as W8 hits the shelves, W7 will be pulled and you will have to buy it on e(bay)hell. Get over it, grow up, quit complaining. You don't like it, don't buy it. my 2cents.gif

The issue isn't that it's new and interesting...

It's the fact that it is designed for touch screens. There is no quick search, I cannot have MANY open programs (PROGRAMS NOT LITTLE KIDDIE APPS THAT ARE ON MY GIRLFRIEND'S IPOD)

No one is saying it's a bad interface in general, we're saying it's a bad interface if you're using a mouse and keyboard.

EDIT: Also, you will still be able to purchase Win7 if you are a corporation until like 2015 or something

that's a;; fine and dandy for corporations... end consumers will have w8, all oem pc's will be shipped with it. Metro UI is a stepping stone only, on the desktop of CP I am able to have as many programs open as I want. In M-UI You can have up to 4 "app"s open at a time that you can switch between. Probably more when it goes rtm. As far as app's... I don't know what to tell you. Software publishers will be going that way as they are what is currently "in"

Don't like Metro, disable it. nuff said
