Yeah, you can give an estimation (335-345mm²), but for an accurate guess, you'd need to do some shooping.

Sorry if I sound like a moron, but thinking of traditional dual 6 pin GPU's and how PSU's have built themselves around that idea. How are we gonna route/find an extra 8-pin? I dont mind the extra power though, living on the westside power is cheap as chips tongue.gif

It's funny.
5 years ago, 512MB was thought of as "excessive"
Now 1280MB of it is not nearly enough...amazing how fast VRAM is going.
2002 - 32MB was enough for most games.
2004 - 64MB - 128MB
2006 128-256MB
2007 320-512MB, with a few rare 768MB
Weird part is, I used to run Half-Life on a GeForce 2 32MB. I launch Half-Life now and it can easily use 200-300MB of VRAM. Same with some other old games. It shocks me, like, how can they use that much, when back in the old days, they used to be fine with as low as 16MB and run 100% speed?

DX Version, OS Uses vRAM. 100-250MB.

Every half-decent PSU has 6+2 pin connectors that can serve as either 6 pin or 8 pin.

4 for core and 1 for memory?
If so sounds like this model is equivalent with the 570 (in term of hierarchy).

What are the two smaller phases on the north top edge of the board for?

Those are a single phase each for vDDq and vDDci ... the RAM driving voltages.

Uh?

OS lets go of the VRAM. If you use AEro it uses about 70MB of it. If you turn Aero off, it drops to about 0-3MB. Even if you don't, Aero is switched off during gameplay. BF3 uses 1275MB of my VRAM. Just older games can make use of more.

It's amazing that if I put 8xAA on a older game it can use 400-600MB of VRAM. Just like wow, people used to play that game with 4xAA with an old 64MB card...just weird.
