Nearly every new CPU architecture has needed a refinement before it was really usable...Take the Pentium. Pentium 60 and 66? Motherboards couldn't really do the 60Mhz minimum bus, the CPUs put out a lot of heat, there was the FDIV bug, etc...Then the Pentium 90, etc came out. Much better chips.
Same story with the Pentium Pro vs Pentium II.

Yeah, hopefully AMD doesn't have a Preshott... can't say either way as that would be years from now

Might as well make the ps4 games compatible w/ the pc too and vice versa. Then we can compare console to pc.

Playstation 3 doesn't use full OpenGL do to performance issues instead it uses the weaker PSGL.

Won't happen. The only one that would do that is Microsoft but the next Xbox is using IBM's and AMD's Oban APU. For short what is used with Oban is, PowerPC, and VLIW4 or Graphic Core Next.

x86 is much more versatile and I think Sony is doing something very smart here. I wouldn't want Bulldozer for my PC, but for a console I think it would be great. After all, games will nearly always be GPU limited on console.
And back then, 2005-2006, single core performance of an Intel x86 Core 2 Duo at 2Ghz was higher than the Xbox's and PS3's PowerPC at 3.2Ghz. In most cases and as much as you can compare them. So, Bulldozer at 3 - 4Ghz is a huge improvement. Plus all the threads available...

Well this would be quite cool indeed.

Just a point to all the people saying 7000 series GPU and Piledriver CPU; If the PS4 was to release this year, it would already be in production so while a 7000 series could be possible, its unlikely and a Piledriver CPU is straight out of the question. (Again if it was to release in 2012) it would be more likely to have a variant of bulldozer tailored to Sony's needs, and probably some variation of the 6000 Series GPU.

If it is scheduled for a 2013 launch, then piledriver/7000 series combo is possible.

I'd really like to see how this plays out, as I am really disappointed that Microsoft is going full on with Kinect for their next console, I hate the darn thing
