Even the notion that PC will fall or Phones / Mobile Computers will dominate vs PCs is absolutely absurd!
Anyone that comes up with articles like this ought to be slapped for being so stupid....
Desktop Computers > All Other Client / Personal Computers
Notebooks / Netbooks aren't comfortable enough to use them productively daily...
Businesses will always provide a desktop for their office staff, they may even give their sales dogs some newer tech, but mainly they stick with Desktops...
However, I will say that the trend may shift more towards mobile because students are required to have a Notebook / Netbook in schools...
Which in turn alleviates the need for a desktop / computer room for colleges and schools...

ahahah couldnt have said it better then myself. I mean imagine having to type up a report on a blackberry, thatll be hell. I remember a week ago some new peripheral company deemed pc gaming is dead as a publicity stunt. These type of articles are just used to drum up hits for websites.

New PC sales were down 20-50% from nearly all PC vendors in Q4 2011 YOY.

How can you possibly make anything good out of these sales figures? The only place where pc sales are decent is China, everywhere else is horrible. Enthusiasts like big form factor PC's, the average normal joe likes small form factor ultrabooks/macbook airs /tablets.

Well Apple is selling which I would say is a good indication that the consumer PC space is doing ok.

Corporations and Governments are in a holding pattern on spending waiting for economic improvements to happen. Also there is more scrutiny on spending at all levels where it was easier to spend pre 2008.
