help building new PC

Thread Starter
Hi all,
First, I'm not sure if this message is in the right topic (feel free to move it if not)

So, currently I have my 6 years old laptop and I think it's time to change smile.gif
What I'm doing usually : play games, code (use a virtual machine)

Here is what I'm thinking to buy:

Please note:
  1. I'm in Japan. I'll not buy on newegg, but I just add the link for more information
  2. It's an microAtx case to fit the motherboard
  3. As you see, I kept my laptop for 6 years, so I probably will keep this new computer for a long time too
  4. My budget is not unlimited!

Thanks you for your time

I would go with a 570 if I could(will it fit?) Get a seasonic 650 gold. Choose the M-4 thumb.gif 4 gig is plenty but 8 is ready for the future on ram.

i think 750w is overkill, u can save some money dropping to 650w. i have the antec earthwatts 650. its great. everything else looks good. also, what are u planning on cooling it with?

thanks for your replies.

the 570 seems to be good, but a little bit more expansive then the 6870hawk.

Ok, I should check for a 650watts PSU (earthwatts or seasonic).

If you have any suggestion for the cooling, please tell me.

I usually use this website : www.kakaku.com. Just enter the model and click on search. Then you get the lowest price.
Today I went to Akihabara, and as lone1dog said, I should be careful about the size of the video card!!

My budget is around 100000yen (1200$)

Thanks Tarun.

1) i5 vs i7
You recommend i5. I could read that i5 is enough for gaming. Buying an i5 will save some money, but I'm just wondering if in 2 or 3 years an i7 will be better ?

2) with the money I can save buying an i5, I can buy a better video card as you said.

3) Asrock. I don't know this brand. For me, it sounds like a cheap copy of Asus (because the name starts with "As"). I'll check more about this brand.

4) SSD, here I should check. Because I want to install my OS (win7) and my games in the SSD. That's why I was thinking to buy a 120GB.

5) HDD, yes I need to buy one, but I don't really need 1TB, because I don't download many things. Maybe 500GB.

6) what about the fan for the CPU? Don't you have any suggestions ?

7) I prefer microAtx than atx

  • in that budget i would not recommend a i5 if you dont know then let me inform you buddy for the i7 you basically have to pay 100$ USD extra and get mere 4 to 5% increase rolleyes.gif both perform good buddy but the i7 is for once who run many Virtual machines on a single PC and who are into rendering and video editing more or less
  • Asrock is a Branch of Asus you are right but not at all a cheap brand buddy i have seen people clock their i5s to 5Ghz with that board pls
  • buddy you can go but have to sacrifice on the performance i.e. go with a cheaper GPU,PSU,RAM etc or if 500GB is enough the the more you saved there invest in a SSD if you want in that way you wont sacrifice on performance wink.gif
  • about CPU HSF the budget is all ready crossed 100k yen i could not yet a 212 EVO is a good budget cooler it performs exception at its price
  • if you go for a M-atx you need to invest more in it buddy and Matx means less feature and less area for adding things like GPU its tuff for a Matx motherboard AFAIK a Asus Maximum IV Gene Z/Gen3 is he best but i f say in USD you get to pay 60$ more frown.gif

Hope that answered you questions buddy thumb.gif
