I'd spend 2k on a monster system that do my laundry, grill steak and hook me up with hot women. The rest of the money would be on lawyers to defend me from the hot women from accusing me of harassment. smile.gif

you mean a computer that can order you food online and you can stalk hot women on facebook?

edit: not sure about the laundry bit, maybe theres a pci card that can do it...

I know people (New Zealanders) who have bought insanely overpriced Alienware systems like this.
I've found there is no point trying to argue with them about their purchase because I guess after blowing NZ$5k+ on a system, your going to be "happy" with it, no matter what other say.

Wow, it's 'only' $3999 AUD over here... roughly $5199 NZD.

I really don't want to see the profit margins on these...

That's exactly why I build my own. Figure on spending double or more if you have it built for you and you will still not likely have every single exact component that you want.

For instance, the listed PC in the OP doesn't even say which brand of GTX580 it is. I will bet it's not a MSI Lightning, if you may have been wanting that specific brand.

Nor does it mention which motherboard or PSU it comes with.

No ty...

I own an Alienware.

I bought it in 2003, when it was still independent, not a cash cow for Dell!
I was able to spec out the entire thing. Their menus used to look like ibuypower.com's on speed, EVERYTHING was upgradeable or down-gradeable.
I spent $1800 for a system that was spec'ed out to run Doom 3 and it has lasted me since then. The only thing I've had to do was replace the video card, it died 3 years ago.
They used to be an Amazing company that built serious machines, then Dell bought them out and they became Noob Bait. Overpriced, Unbalanced and Just not worth it...

I still think they have some of the coolest cases out there; you have to admit the new one with the motorized air vents on top is pretty cool!
