Two pumps for different builds, unable to choose.

Thread Starter
I have recently started to buy stuff to watercool my two main rigs (for more info, check the link on my sig). I have been reading a lot, and have already solved several issues (like my tubing issue) but now i need one more last piece to complete the puzzle, and that is a good pump. For both, i want them between 0.75 and 1 GPM and be able to fit 1/2'' barbs, but with different acoustic profiles. Fans will be GT-2150's for both PC's.

On my sig rig, i plan to have 2 240mm rads, a CPU block (cooling my Clarkdale and later an Ivy i5), and 2-3 GPU blocks (i want to upgrade to a new ATI 7xxx/NVidia 6xx card in SLI/Xfire but i will keep one of my GTS 450's for BOINC). I do not know if my future mobo upgrade would give me the choice to WC the MOSFETs, but that'd be an extra. Noise is not a huge issue, but needs to use 18w or less of power since i'll be plugging that to my fan controller. I do want to OC on this rig. As a tentative, i chose the MCP655 for this build as i've seen it's a good performer, but i'm not sure if i could get something better, or equal for a lower price.

On my HTPC, main concern is silence. I do not mind a certain degree of noise, but considering it's an HTPC, a faint whisper is all i want. I'll have a 240mm rad, a CPU block (for a C2D and maybe later my i3) and one GPU block. I do not plan to beat OCing records or even OC at all (well, maybe the video card only) since i know the rad will be limiting me on that aspect. This rig is the one i don't know which pump to get. I would be undervolting it, or either choose a PWM to keep the volume down.

You could find a pair of DDC-1T pumps at a good price, each using a performance top having the 1/2-inch fittings.

This way, the power usage would be lower for 10W each.

I use one of these on one of my rigs and it's dead silent to me with my fans running at 800 rpm

Get this guy's pump(s) and a top! Definitely satisfies your requirements.
Not sure though, his sale thread is locked, but keeps getting bumped wth.gif.

Thread was closed by a MOD. I still have pumps.

Think a single one of those pumps would work on my HTPC? also, are there any other pump options for my main rig, especially since i don't mind noise much?

For total silence and constant load a D5 vario turned town to settings 2 is pretty hard to beat. I like my DDCs where I have ariable loading and can PWM control, but I do think the D5s are a touch quieter at the same performance level. I would be running 500rpm fans and a vario at setting 2 on a theater rig if I built one. The power supply fan may be the more noisy thing to deal with...maybe one of the passive or water cooled options?

For the regular rig..I like the DDCs better myself. More power, less heat dump, smaller package..

Best bang for the buck is a Bmaverick DDC1 pump without a doubt...get two in series if you want more power..
