No.

Just because you dont plan on using SLi or CF, i wouldnt say 'dont buy an SLi mobo!'

The mobos that support SLi and Crossfire are just overall generally better mobo's. (note: 'generally better'. Not omg SLi r teh 1337)

Ok have to think about this... don't have a hugh budget and i'm running games with an sh**** leadtek 256 MB card and that goes without any problems.... (play all games with 1600x1200). then the question is... what is cheaper to do to get the best performance ? Get an SLI/Crossfire mobo with 2 cheap 256 MB GFX cards or an Normal mobo with 1 Good GFX card ?

That's what I did. I have one 7900gt on my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe board and a 7950GX2 on my M2N32-SLI Deluxe board. When the cards get cheaper, I will make them SLI.... or not. At least it's an option.
