Also if i left it up so the copper faces the ceiling, the grinding noise stops and it soundsw smooth. But i think thats what it sounded like before... hoiw do i find out whuch way is working?

*EDIT* Cant get it to make any other sounbd other than the grinding one when its installed. its a diff sound then before \so hopefullky it will do something when I pujt it all back together.

*EDIT 2* Nope same temps nothing changed frown.gif
Anything else I can do or should I just RMA it?
Fwiw, I have one of these on the same processor. Mine is absolutely silent, and my temps are around 26 at idle and about 58 under load on a 4.2Ghz OC. If you have reseated and reapplied paste, I'm not sure what else you could do besides return it and get another one. That is what I would do if it were me. You may have received a bad unit, which does happen with these coolers. Just my two cents.

Its been more than 30 days since I bought it so I'll contact Corsair and try to get an RMA for.

Thanks for the assistance guys. I'll post results of the new unit when I get it.

Got the new cooler. Idle temps are 25C and Prime 95 hit max of 45C (stock clocks). All is good.
