It seems like the Extreme 11 has a BIOS option for the PLX chips to run at PCIE 3.0, 2.0 or 1.0 which is pretty cool and I'm assuming the X79 Champion doesn't have that. I can only run 3 way SLI for my specific case/power supply which is un-upgradable and I am dying to go the 1-5-7 Tri-Sli spacing setup on the X79 Champion but I don't want them running at PCIE 2.0 speeds. Thanks!

I can only answer to the PCIE 3.0 bios option part. My board has the option to run PCIE 3.0, 2.0, 1.0. I'm sure it follows suit with lower boards as well.

I do know that there was a post earlier on the speed difference between PCIE 3.0 and 2.0. There was no difference at all, and the real gains were between 8x and 16x.

With 4-way 670/680 you will not see any difference in pic-e 2.0 vs 3.0 if all lanes are at x16, which no motherboard can to except the Extreme 11. Now pic-e 2.0 x8 you will see a difference with 4-way, as proven by CallsignVega's videos. I'm seeing @ 5-15% performance increase (depending on game)on my 670s compared to when on the RIVE.

The RIVE also had option to change pci-e 1.0-3.0 in bios also but it doesn't work. The AE11 bios option works.

The pic-e 3.0 patch from Nvidia is an "unofficial" patch. Nvidia basically said here it is, but it is not guaranteed to work.

Can anybody get all 8 DIMM slots with at least 2133Mhz to work properly with any of Asrock's higher end X79 boards? Because my Champion board will always BSOD with all RAM sticks set at 2133Mhz no matter what voltages I'm using, while my Gigabyte GA-X79S-UP5 runs 32GB at 2133Mhz flawlessly even with a 4Ghz overclock.

I believe they are rolling out BIOS updates for the X79 series, but I have yet to get home and try the update on my Extreme 9. Just been too busy.

Hi smile.gif

Tip of the day and to test for: GEEK inside ASRock X79 LGA 2011 Extrême9:

AuxTin or temp or SB SB FAN ... All this concerns the temperature of Southbridge and then of course the chipset X79 intel that team all socket LGA2011 platform currently, any time this chipset heater, said heater and said instability ...

So I practice Geek attitude Testing and remove the heatsink southbrige biggrin.gif

And the first observation was that the sink was not very shake "in my opinion" wink.gif

and the second: O thermal paste: O all dry and I think poor bill ...

20 Minutes later after installing the thermal paste Gelid thermal OC ...:

Once reassembled the SB heatsink, this time tightening, fessons that either screws stumbled ...

The conclusion was clear to as "spring water" whether or OC @ stock with speeb FAn in full and an ambient temperature of 25 °, the SB does not exceed the 40 ° load;) OC RAM @ 2400MHz 3820@4.3Ghz and idle is 36 °

In addition this could be solved my problem with my ram stabiliter G-skill trident X 2400MHz, since at this frequency I was unstable ....

guide:

1 / disassembly active heatsink on the SB chipset (you will see that by removing the heatsink is not really tighten .. finally some!)

2 / Make a good cleaning of the thermal grease is all dry ... : (

3/Changement thermal paste heatsink Acticf cooling on the chipset by the Gelid Thermal Oc, and then reattached the heatsink, and executed a tightening of the abutment screws

Stupid question, but I searched within the thread and ouldnt find anything. Can anyone PM a detail for setting up the front panel On/Off switch. Ive tried every port on the board and I'm a rock head and cant find where the on and off and restart get plugged in. The manual is WAY to confusing for me, it says way to much to me at one time confuses me and makes me mad.. Can someone make this a little more complex for me in a PM. Thanks

To recap:

You removed the SB active heatsink. Removed the TIM, reapplied TIM, and this increased your stability with your Memory overclock?

Yes.. Yes exactly : Pouce: I disassembled, cleaned, and application of Gelid OC finally reassembling the SB heatsink FAN, but making a complete tightening of the screws!

It's like the principle of extreme OC and ela densiter evaporator ln ² (bucket) bucket is more dense (heavier) the dissipation will be more efficient and effective : D
