Looking for a little insight here. I have an ASRock X79 Fatal1ty Pro board with a core-i7 3930k on it. I have not done anything to over-clock the cpu as yet. It should run at 3.20 GHz unmodified, but I've noticed it runs at about 3.50 even when the PC isn't doing much of anything. The multiplier sits mostly at 35 but very briefly jumps to 36 frequently as well. It sort of smells like Turbo kicking in, but without any obvious reason. With EIST enabled, should it not run at lower rates when idle rather than higher?

I do have XMP 1.3 enabled on my RAM; is there any reason that might come into play here? Or is there something else that I may be missing?

Thanks to any with notions or insights to share over this,
JML

My 2133mhz ram has two xmp profiles that run good on bios 1.5. Only one would boot on bios 2.30? Do I need the new bios to run raid0 with trim?

shouldn't hurt to update the bios, not like it's gonna blow up or anything, is it?
Then see if it supports trim in Raid0, only 1 way to find out!

Does anyone know how I can get my ram to run on the XMP settings ? I've manage to get my ram to 2133mhz but my ram is rated to 2400mhz before overclocking, I know I won't be able to get my ram up to clock like 2800mhz but I'd like to at least get it's stated potential?

My System is as follows :-

Intel i7 3820 running at 4.2ghz (H100 on Triple + Dual Radiator)
32GBG.Skill Trident X 2400mhz ram - Running atm 21233mhz
ASRock Extreme9 Motherboard
2GB XFX 7850's GDDR5
OCZ 750 ZT PSU

All rapped and cuddled in a Cosmos II

I loaded my xmp for my 2133 ram and rebooted back to bios and changed my ram speed to 2400mhz with timings set to auto. Worked for me but only on a older bios?

Seems that the spreadsheet needs some editing. Went to verify that I was on there, before I go off using the club signature and I noticed the names "znarf" & "shadho" are on there multiple times with the same verification links. Probably just some submission glitch. Just thought I would give the OP a heads up. biggrin.gif

2133Mhz is plenty fast. It could be your cpu has a weak imc?

@Blindshot

"6x9 car speakers running off of a home receiver "

Well, that just sounds cool, how is that working out for you? And how do you fuse that with your mobo?
