my 24/7 will be 4522 with auto voltage smile.gif

4788 at fixed VCore or offset? Did you set PLL overvoltage to ON? 4.8+ it gets stupid hot, I can do 5.0 stable but IMO it's not worth all the VCore/heat.

I'm liking 4.6 24/7 with offset/EIST. I moved to LLC level 3 and some more offset. Full load I'm about 1.368V, idle 0.864. I had a couple idle BSODs with Leve 2 and less offset, but now it's been solid. I was originally going for 4.8 offset, but I'm starting to think 4.6-4.7 is fine for 24/7. 4.8 and above starts to want alot of VCore for me, 1.45+

Is everyone disabling Spread Spectrum or leaving it alone?

pll overvoltage is set on, fixed vcore, I did set current limit to 300 and I was able to reach windows loading logo, but it crashes (no bsod though). My bclk is at 133 which allows me to set my ram to 2128. I tried xmp profile but it crashes and I have reset the cmos to get a post again.

btw: temps are surprisingly good! They hit the high 50s and mid 60s running ibt. In comparison, my SB @ 4.9-5.0 would be in the high 60s and low 70s.

I do miss having a K chip. I'm really thinking of just going for a 3930k for the unlocked multiplier but I'm saving up for a Surround setup instead. I'll wait for my next tax return smile.gif

I'm at 4655 stable at 1.350v so I'm going to leave it as my 24/7. Temps are super yummy in the mid 50s and my fans are set to their lowest voltage smile.gif
Oh, I finally got xmp profile stable wheee.gif

Hello everyone, I was wondering if I could get some help with overclocking my i7-3820. This is my first attempt at overclocking, as well as my first build. I tried using the ez oc settings in my bios, i set it to 4.6 ghz but i kept failing P95 on blend test. I ran memtest overnight and there was no issues with that. I tried different vcore settings from 1.325 to 1.340. I also read that using the auto overclock settings isnt recommended. So here I am, hoping to get some help on overclocking manually after failing with the auto settings.

My system specs:
Motherboard: ASRock X79 Extreme4
cpu: Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz
Ram: Patriot G2 Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (it runs at 1333 in the bios, but I dont care)
cpu cooler: ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B
Gpu: MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC (2 in SLI)
PSU: COOLER MASTER Silent Pro RSA00-AMBAJ3-US 1000W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.92

I don't know what else would be relevant, but please don't hesitate to ask if need be.

I really don't know where to start, besides changing the blk to 125, and the multiplier to 37. If anyone has the same board, could you please help me out with some of the settings i could change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated smile.gif

I take that back, it really wasn't stable so I went back to manual. Its running at 2128 so that's very close smile.gif

Hi,

I didn't like the "Ez oc" option so I set a few things manually. Here's what I got:

Multiplier: 35
Base clock: 133
Current: 250-300 (I left mine at 250 so far and its ok)
Pll overvoltage protection: enabled
Cpu Voltage: 1.350v
Intel Speed Step Tech: disabled.

I find it better to run a bclk of 133 but yours might run better on 125. If you can't stabilize with bclk 133 try 125x37 and 1.350v.

Also, any bsod codes?
