How are you guys liking your ASRock MB's? I heard the BIOS's are getting better but still may not be up to the standards such as Asus. Thoughts?

I am looking into the Extreme11 for it's two PLX chips to run my 4-way GTX 680 SLI setup. Even when set to PCI-E 3.0 I think my Asus Rampage IV Extreme at 16x/8x/8x/8x may be limiting me during my testing.

Quad 16x PCI-E 3.0 would be pretty awesome.

They've seemed to revised their BIOS's to get all of the kinks worked out. Their price vs. performance, from what I've seen, puts them above Asus. I feel you won't be disappoint in the least by purchasing The Extreme11.

My board runs stellar with my 7970, so I see no reason why you wouldn't be delighted with a 4-way GTX 680 SLI setup in an Extreme11.

If/when you make your purchase, we'll be here for anything you may need. smile.gif

I would have to agree with the above. While the EUFI isn't as polished, and probably isn't as well laid out or have as many tweaks you can perform as an Asus board, they're decent, and I got my Extreme 6 with a Lan/Audio card for 279.99. Can't get that with Asus, that's for sure.

The LAN/Audio card is awesome, I'm very please with my decision and OC'ing the RAM on this board was so simple. I just used setting found elsewhere in this thread and the board cooperated no problem.

This is the second Asrock board I've purchased, and I can tell you it won't be the last. I think their build-quality is excellent and the price/performance is outstanding.

Ya, unfortunately the Extreme11 is still a few months out last thing I heard. I might upgrade from my Asus RIVE just for those extra lanes. I figure if I am already approaching the maximum (or even exceeding) my PCI-E 3.0 8x slots, "big kepler" with it's supposed ~25% performance increase over the GTX 680 will stress it even more. Having Quad-16x PCI-E 3.0 will have a lot of future proofing in it for the next couple gens of GPU's in 4-way SLI in Surround. The board could even extend me out to IB-E in 2013 and upgrade my 3960X.

I've been tinkering with my extreme6 3820 OC since my last post and am still getting a BSOD after about an hour running Prime95. I got the temps down by reseating the intel water cooler with artic silver, idle about 34-36C and full load about 66-70C. I have increased the vcore and the ram voltage various times and voltages and nothing seems to help. Also tried the corsair 1600 ram at 1333 with no improvement, changed the ram to 2N and same thing. Would changing the ram timing possible help?  Any other suggestions.

I 've been editing and encoding the last few days and all seems OK.

I have the same processor at 4.5ghz with 1.335v core in the bios (1.328v in cpuz). I see your overclock is higher and has less voltage, or maybe you have load line calibration on low, mine is at level 1. I was also not able to get a stable system with xmp settings for my ram, try leaving ram on auto until your overclock is stabilized, that worked for me. I have the extreme4 though, not sure if that makes a big difference.

That is one thing I haven't tried, i'll give it a shot in the morning. I have set my vcore even higher than yours without any change and just got higher temps. I do have LLC set to level 1.

Yea, I was trying for a 4.6 overclock with my 3820 but I could not get it stable no matter what I tried. I got suggestions to put vcore at 1.375 but my temps were way too high, so I settled with 4.5ghz.. Anyways, good luck stabilizing it, I would be really interested in knowing what settings you end up using when and if you get it stable, that way i could try them on mine tongue.gif
