It is hardly worth it to go above 1866. You should get the performance from the speed, or the cas latency.

The higher your CPU overclock is, the lower your memory clock will be as well. If you want to see what your memory can do, put your CPU at stock. Then work your memory overclock from there and see what it can do and stay stable.

After that you can work up your CPU clock, and see where you balance between memory OC and CPU OC will be.

For me, at 4.2ghz I had to drop my memory speeds to achieve stability at higher clocks.

Thanks for the info...thats what i thought, ans was trying to lower my latency. 10-10-10-28 good enough for my needs anyway.

Hey all... just popping in to say that I've got everything working! smile.gif

Probably going silent for a while as I'm working on installing my games as we speak... wink.gif

Just did a memory latency benchmark with AIDA64 Trial, and it came out to 48.7ns with my timings set to 9-9-9-28 @1.50v. This seems better than I expected, but I am a noob.....any thoughts on this number?

On the result comparison CPU/Mobo list provided after the test, mine was the number 2 score, above the 2600k and 3960x.....BUT below a X2 Black 6400, so I don't know what to think

I got 46.2ns,20621 mb/s read and 18508 mb/s write.

I just set my speed to 1600 and set the timings manually.
ANy idea what voltage is right? 1.5 or 1.35 for my ram? Sorry, kind of a noob at some of this..

I'm pretty sure that the high DRAM voltage reported in AXTU is an error. However, I would still like to check this with a multimeter to make sure.

The reason I suspect it is an error is that, if you set your DRAM voltage (VDIMM) in the bios at 1.5V or higher, it will match what is displayed in AXTU in Windows. However, if you set the DRAM voltage to anything less than 1.5V, it will show your setting + 0.3V in AXTU (ie, if you set 1.365V, you get 1.665; 1.45V becomes 1.75V. But at 1.5V, you get 1.5V). It doesn't make sense to have an algorithm in the bios that automatically increases VDIMM by a whopping 0.3V just because the user sets VDIMM <1.5V. Hence the suspected software reading error.

For any that are concerned and are trying to set their ram < 1.5V, I recommend setting VDIMM to 1.5V for now, as all DDR3 ram, including the low voltage Samsung stuff, should be fine to run at 1.5V and 1.5V is not going to damage the memory controller.

I dont think my RAm is faulty, and it is on the list of supported RAMs. Can someone test this type of RAM with their mobo and see if it works?

Hey, I know this is a week late, but did you find fix the problem?
I had the same issue(code 60) with the extreme3 and then a extreme6, turned out to be the GSkill RAM.
I tried one stick at a time in the A1 slot with no other components installed (no SDD/HDD, video cards etxc)
On 3 of the sticks, I would get a code A5, but on one I still got the code 60, left it out, install everything else
and am running fine on 12 gb.
Got an RMA on the RAM, but have to wait on a new RAM kit to arrive before I send the bad one back. Gskill wants the whole
set back.

It works out tho, got a better Mobo (extreme6 over the 3), and opted got 2133mhz RAM as an upgrade.
