Pointing towards the top or back of the case? I have a Megahalem with a 120mm push fan pointed towards the top and I still have about an inch clearance on the Extreme 6. Maybe you can look up the specs and get a rough idea if nobody else has one.

Hey, everyone. I just wanted to drop in and say hi, as I'm planning on picking up an Asrock x79 board in the near future. Most likely the Extreme9 since it offers the most compatibility for my needs and desires for my upcoming build. I can't believe that they're the only motherboard manufacturer that's putting a decent amount of sata ports on their new boards. Six is a joke and anything less is just preposterous, for a full sized board at least.

I was wondering if you guys could give me some more info on the GameBlaster module. Most reviewers barely mention it. The only one that really goes out of his way to talk about it found it lacking. They equated it to "polish(ing) a turd". I know some of you have mentioned that you quite like the lan portion of the card, but how's the sound quality? Compared to a Xonar DX for example?

Since they have taken down the 11's page from their site, I believe one of two things is in the works;
1: They found a design flaw or some other issue and are currently in a frenzy of re-engineering and redesign in an effort to correct the issue and release the board to the awaiting masses.

2: The have canceled this board's release because;
a: It's too costly to manufacture and sell at a profitable retail amount. I would think at least $450 (USD) and more likely closer to $500.
b: The previews for the board failed to generate enough of an interest from the enthusiast and/or retail communities and was thus scrapped

I'll probably be hanging around here more as I start getting things into gear for the build. I'll see you guys around, and thanks for the help.

I hope to see it, but it wouldn't shock me to see them wait until IB-E comes out.

As for the sound blaster, I unhooked my 5.1 before I got the board so I don't have a real comparison to give you. I run sony, studio quality head phones, but they would hardly do justice.

I just got the Asrock X79 Fatal1ty Champion board, and I have two issues here. I'm trying to run 32GB of RAM at 2133Mhz but I can't, it will always BSOD on me when I go to Windows, I can run it at 1866Mhz at the moment. Is 2133Mhz doable with all 8 DIMM slots populated? And also, the Sound Blaster driver and software, I can't use my keyboard (or the Windows Volume Mixer) to control the volume, I have to use the speaker to turn it down, and I'm using the Logitech Z-5500 via an optical cable. Does anybody know how to enable volume control using the Volume Mixer, since the volume keys is controlled via Volume Mixer?

What type of overclock are you running on your CPU? Higher CPU overclocks means you will have to scale back your memory speeds. Also, populating more slots will make it more difficult to run higher memory overclocks.

Are you using the latest drivers for your keyboard? I have never encountered this type of problem because it is usually plug and play. I'd have a look to see you have the latest drivers for the X79 champ as well.

I would first try populating only 4 slots and see if that helps. If not, you might need to tweak some of the voltages to have it running stable.

What type of memory is it?

I am running mushkin redline and can only achieve 2133 if I'm under 4.1ghz, from 4.2-4.4 i can run 1866, but for 4.5+ I have to run 1600mhz.
