What headphone amp should I get? - Page 2

Checkout Jaben Go-Vibe amps. Used to own 5 of them but gave one away at the Bay Area Head-Fi meet. Currently own 4, love each one.

The Sennheiser HD 215, is not a high impedance headphone.
The Beyerdynamic DT770 is 250 ohms, which is much higher, and requires more from an amp to power the drivers in them.

Higher impedance does not mean requiring more amplification.

I misunderstood your comparison to the Sennheiser headphones then.

As far as I know FiiO E9 has relatively high output impedance (10ohm was it?) which makes it undesirable for 90% of headphones out there.

I can't recommend anything from personal experience but NwAvGuy's O2 is said to be one of, if not THE best headphone amplifier available for normal user. It's a do-it-yourself project but you can purchase it ready-made from various places.

Then there's always FiiO E17 ($150 or so I think) which looks promising and while (apparently) not being quite as good as O2 in the role of amplifier, it makes up by being a really good DAC on top of it.

What I'm waiting for myself is the yet-to-be-released NwAvGuy's ODA but it might take such a long time that I'm seriously considering E17 once it gets more reviews.

Bought the o2 myself and very happy I did. The o2 supposedly has a output impedance of only 2ohms, which is crazy for a 100 dollar headphone amp.

Please note there is such a thing as an E17

Actually it goes by 2 names: E17 or Alphen. I was thinking about getting a DAC + amp to replace my laptop's sound, as it sounds terrible when I listen to music. I don't have the money to go high-end just yet, so a budget solution will be suitable for the time being.

I really want one, but I just recently bought my E10 frown.gif

On the bright side, it was half the price of the E17 and I love it lots.
