So I will grab pokemon crystal, and not sure whether to grab a Gameboy Advance SP as they are about £10-£15 on ebay lol, or a Nintendo DS as they look about £30

What's the best console to grab the cartridges for? Gamboy Advance SP?

Ahh I forgot about the DS's

Gameboy pocket or color.

I remember I started with a Gameboy Pocket with Red. My bro got the Color and got the Gold. I then got Silver.

I'm only 18. I miss these days frown.gif

Grab an original DS or the DS Lite, as you can still play GBA games on those, but not with the DSi or 3DS smile.gif

Emerald is also Epic, it was the first one to have a decent plot tongue.gif

Didn't want the DSi or 3DS because of the prices, so yeah I'll grab a DS or DS lite, although the Gameboy SP looks to have a better screen. Will the games utilize both screens on the DS? Otherwise it would be annoying and I'd be better off the with the SP

No, a GBA game on a DS only uses one screen but you do get to choose which screen it plays on.

I'd say grab an SP and Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire if you don't want to spend a lot.
I'd also avoid places like ebay for the games themselves, so get something like :

I think I started a bit too late for the Poke craze... but my son was totally obsessed for a while. Atleast it's got kids playing RPG styled games... like the good old fashioned Shining Force, Chronotrigger, Phantasy Star, etc.

Yep Gameboy SP it is then, I don't think I will care for anything other than just catching up on the pokemon games, so the gameboy will do smile.gif Are the rest of the games (after crystal) gameboy SP compatible?

Ugh actually if I want to play up to the latest game (black or white) I will need a DS won't I :|

You can play gens 1 to 3 on an SP.

If you want to play 4 or 5 you'll need a DS. smile.gif
