<$800 build, need some suggestions!

Hello OCN! Greetings from Poland smile.gif

Just need to be sure that I've chosen the "best bang for buck" wink.gif
Target: gaming rig. 1680x1050 pix. Budget - below $800, including OS (W7 64bit OEM), but the lower the better.
Only new parts can be purchased, no used ones here.

All the prices are the lowest that I can find in price-comparison sites here, recalculated into US dollars wink.gif

OS - Windows 7 HP 64-bit OEM - 103,74 USD
CPU - Intel Core i5 2500K - 232,97 USD
MoBo - ASRock Z68 Extreme3 GEN3 - 139,58 USD
Case - CM Elite 311 - 36,56 USD
HDD - Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 - 105,68 USD
CPU cooler - SilentiumPC Fortis HE1225 (Polish brand, simillar to CM Hyper 212+) - 38,17 USD
PSU - OCZ OCZ-ZS550W-EU - 59,24 USD
DVD burner - LiteOn iHAS124 - 18,29 USD
RAM - KINGSTON HyperX DDR3 8GB (2x4GB)/1600MHz CL9 XMP X2Grey DUAL - 44,22 USD

And... GPU. The hardest part for me. What I've found is:

Gainward GTX560Ti (426018336-1824), 1GB GDDR5 - 211,07 USD

And the questions are:
1. Is there anything at the market that is better for gaming than 2500K (in that pricerange)? Will be OCed to the limits;)
2. Is Z68 Extreme 3 the best bang for buck? Need a good overclocker, stability FTW! Is 4.6-4.8Ghz possible on air with this mobo?
3. Is there any better and cheaper case with cable management and decent airflow?
4. What about HDD? No need of SSD ATM, will buy it in the future
5. Is there anything better in this price than PSU choosen by me?
6. GPU...
6.1 Is GTX560Ti much better than HD6870? Much worse than HD6950? Or just is it the best in that pricerange?
6.2 Is this particular model of Gainward any good? What about overclockability? http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=455

Not necessarily better..but on par.. is a 960T overclocked.
Extreme3 is an OK Motherboard..good value for dollar.I don't like the noname chokes..or AsRock support.
As an alternative ..Biostar tp67XE is a good clocker
TBH ex 3 gen3 should get you there, though.
ON newegg there's a 6870 with 2gb vram
or a gtx 460 2gb

Is really 960T on par with i5 2500K in terms of performance and overclockability?
Will (even unlocked to x6) overclocked to the limits of air cooling (4.0-4.2Ghz) 960T be more efficient than overclocked 2500K?
I think that the sandy bridge architecture is much better when it comes to gaming?

What do you mean by "noname chokes"? Are those on that mobo a low quality ones? Aren't they all solid?

Biostar tp67XE is not even available here in Poland. Any other suggestions when it comes to MoBo?

Will HD6870 2GB perform much better than GTX560Ti 1GB in resolution that I mentioned?

The cheapest 6870 1GB I can find here is VTX3D Radeon HD 6870 (1GBD5-2DHG) - 180,36 USD
The cheapest 6870 2GB is XFX HD6870 Dual Heatpipe 2GB 900 MHz 4.2 GHz (HD-687A-CDFC) - 235,14 USD
Is it worth it? Isn't HD6870 worse than GTX560Ti? Which one is better overclocker?

BTW, can't make it via newegg, MC or ebay.com. Only stores here, in Poland are taken into consideration. I recalculated the prices to show you how are they like in my country smile.gif

What about a 6950 2gb?

And how much is the 448core compared to the standard 560ti, I hear there it's a heck of a card for the price.

Looks good. 2500k is considerably better than the 960T. Buddy and mine tested both out with the same 5850 and I ran BF3 much smoother.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/146?vs=288

In reguards to the gpu, the 560ti is a good step up from the 6870. I would consider the 560ti and the 6950 a tossup, get which ever one you can get cheaper. Unless of course you can get a 448core 560ti, then it's better. The 7800 series cards are coming out in a couple weeks as well, but I think your looking at $250 for the cheaper one there.

The 448-core is something about 342,06 USD. The cheapest 6950 2GB today is 292,41 USD, without shipping.

Yeah, the build ended up with about $1011 USD (some fans, termal grease, palit gpu instead of gainward - it was unavailable) but I forgot to mention, that I can lower the price by 23% by not paying some taxes. So the final price for me was $778,5 USD smile.gif

Just bought it yesterday, sholud be here tommorow. I will build it this weekend. And OC it as well wink.gif

BTW no, I can't buy the parts from UK, it was a must to buy here to avoid the tax wink.gif
