Does Apple replace iPad 1's with iPad 2's now?

I bought a refurbished iPad 1 a few months ago when they were getting rid of their stock and now I'm having problems with the headphone jack. My question is do they now give you an iPad 2 if they were to replace your iPad 1? If not yet, do you think they will soon? It would be really cool of Apple to give me a 64GB iPad 2 instead of the same 1st generation iPad.

Nope, hell they still replace the original iPhones with the originals...

Not sure when you last had to replace something or maybe you got a stiff.
I have two friends that at months apart needed to replace their 3GS and received a 4.
Also had a friend that had a double extended apple care IP3 that had a cracked screen
and received a 4S last month.

Don't know the turnout on ipads though, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Companies that can't replace your product due to stock insufficiency / cannot repair will have to
replace it with something equal or better. I've also seen someone receive
full refunds based on receipt price tag if they didn't want the "better" replacement.

Nooooooooooooooo! I just checked their site and they still sell refurbished iPad 1's, except now they cost $500. There's still cases of Apple stores not having any replacements in stock and giving customers the next gen that they have available, but I don't think that will happen.

Just saying, I don't know where your friends had this happen but if true the Apple employees would be fired. We were told to NEVER trade up and they still have a factory that produces EVERY Item they have made for this very reason.

That is cool though that they upgraded, just make sure to tell them not to tell other employees who did it because like I said above they will be fired.

So Apple is still producing iPad 1's?

Probably not in production, but they got a motherload stacked away somewhere. Not to mention parts too.

I don't know policies but it happens more often than you think. I believe it's based on stock at hand at whatever applestore you go to for an appointment. Because both of my friends
went to the same apple store and at both times they did not have refurb iphone 3GS's on stock, so they replaced it with an iphone 4 from an all black box with only the phone and sync cable (no retail box or manual inserts)
