As stated above, my birthday is soon, and my mom has allowed me to go all out on any computer I want (im turning 21). Ill be building a core2duo rig ofcourse, using parts that can be found on the egg. Im looking for suggestions!

[E6700 or E6600 or QX6700]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131028 [P5B Deluxe/Wifi or wait for DFIR600]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145043 [Corsair Dominator 8500]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188 [Soundblaster X-FI Extreme Music]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136033 [WD Raptor (2) From current Rig]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835108076 [Swiftech H20-220 Ultra Apex]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824112176 [Scepter 20.1 inch Monitor or 24 inch]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703006 [PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750]

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133143 [Thermaltake Shark Full Tower]

These are the only items I am absolutly sure that I want, Im looking for suggestions on Case, Power Supply (currently eyeing the FSP 700), and Video cards (do I wait for r600 or G80?). Ill have optical drives, but they wont be anything special.

If you are going all out, I would suggest a PC Power and Cooling PSU, hear they are THE best around.

I would definitely wait for the new Gfx cards to come out. Personal opinion I guess, and that 7900 will do you well for quite some time.

And on the case front, i would recommend any Lian Li case, but cases are very much personal choice.

Well if shes willing to go all out...Don't get the extrememusic, Get the X-ram, go with the FPS! =D

Just dropped 70$ in price to... (20 days after i bought it...)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102189

Wait for conroe x6900 and the 2x G80s. Honestly, they should be out in november. Go with a PC&C 1000W PSU also.

I'd go with the TT Armor Case... I'd also definitely go SLI so i'd get a motherboard that supports SLI.. Even though that has 2 PCI-E slots, I don't think it supports sli (?)

I cant really see myself asking my mom to buy me a sound card that expensive. Im perfectly happy with my Audigy 2 ZS to be honest. Im not an audiophile or anything like that, so I think the extreme music is the best choice for me. While she has said I can get anything I want, I dont want to spend ALL her money. Ill look into those psu's Kama!

Ok, this is something that I have been mulling in my head for over a month. Kentsfield is supposed to be released on November 13 (?). Is that the street date (ie the date newegg will start selling them) or is that the oem build date (the date dell and all the others will get them). If its the street date I will definatly go quad core. As for phase and all that, lets just say I would like to keep the total cost (including 2 r600 or g80) <4000 USD.

I wouldnt go quad core, The dual cores will most likely be better at gaming than a quad core (atleast for right now).

True, but having four cores for folding is SO tempting...
a bit excessive haha... but good. very good.
you may want to add another drive for storage, like a 250gig or something thats more reliable if you're going to use RAID 0... maybe an external?
