I'd say ditch the X6800 for an E6700 and the money put it towards a 24" ACER LCD monitor.

The performance gap between the X6800 and E6700 is not that much but the difference between a 20.1" LCD vs a 24"......it's a heck of a lot and you'll be seeing the difference.

At least, that's what I'd do if I had the money to buy what you're considering to spend and so far that's the only thing I'd say about your choices there, everything else is PERFECT (because it's just like what I have) and great choice in the Shark case, it's the best damn case ever.

Yeah, that case is looking awesome, the more pics of it the better it looks. As for getting a larger monitor, I might see if I can swindle my mom into getting a 24 inch for me, but I really want the X6800 . A question though, does anyone know if the P5B Deluxe supports crossfire, as I think I will be going that direction when R600 comes out. And secondly, is Kentsfield going to be released on the 13'th to end users or just oem?

Ditch the X6800. Not worth it, unless you go phase with it.

Also, seriously think about dual PSUs. The DX10 cards supposedly draw around 250W a piece, which is more than even current 1KW units can handle.

I would get two PC Power & Cooling 750W Silencers. One for the two video cards, and one for everything else. (Maybe a 750W - for video, and a 610W - for all else will do).

Not sure about the release date issue.

Also, P5W does support Crossfire (maybe modded drivers are needed), but only at x16, x4 mode

Wait for the DFI RD600 board Now sure when due, but I'd say soon.

Since I really respect your opinion Chozart I will seriously reconsider the proc. Would you suggest the 6700 or the 6600? Or should I wait for the Core 2 Extreme QX6700... As for dual psu's... I suppose I could just take out the 550 neo he since it has modular cabling and use that to supply the two graphics cards with power, but man, where would I put it...

E6700 would be nice.

And I would put the cash saved toward a 24" monitor. That's about a must for that rig (I would upgrade mine right now if I had the cash )

each card in SLI or CF doesnt draw the same amount. in fact a single 7900gtx draws around 200w i believe, and dual draws around 260watts...

and why in the world do they keep having to increase video card power consumption, yet cpu's continually get more performance per watt??!

Sure would be nice if someone had an answer to that. I was reading up on the R600 and saw a site that claimed that the next generation of ATI's cards are going to be external because of the massive power consumption and the heat.
