Post Your Boot Times

Thread Starter
"Boot time" - The time it takes from pressing your computer's power button to Windows Login screen (or desktop if password is disabled)

DO NOT USE THE PROGRAM BOOT RACER!

Please use an actual stop watch (or watch with a stop watch function, or a smartphone with a stopwatch app) to measure the time it takes your computer to boot. No guessing. And for those of you getting low 10-15 second boots make sure you are timing from power button to Windows logon/desktop screen and NOT from POST to Windows logon/desktop screen.

Then post your time in this format:
Time: (round to the nearest second)
SSD/HDD Model:
Mainboard Model:
UEFI or BIOS?:
CPU Model & GHz:
RAM Amount & MHz:
GPU:

Tips for reducing boot time:
If you have an SSD then it's likely more than half of your boot time will come from your motherboard POSTing (Power On Self Test).
You can reduce the time it takes to POST by:
  • Disabling motherboard splash screen
  • Disabling unused controllers
  • Minimizing the number of hard drives you have connected
  • Minimizing the number of USB devices and hubs you have connected
  • Make sure your SATA mode is set to AHCI or RAID mode
  • Use the Native SATA chipset, not third party controllers.
  • OVERCLOCK!!! biggrin.gif

Tips for decreasing Windows' boot time:
  • Disable GUI at boot
  • Install newest SATA drivers
  • Disable Prefetch and Superfetch for SSDs
  • Change power options to High Performance
  • Disable unneeded services
  • Turn off Unused Windows Features

My time:
Time: 27 seconds
SSD/HDD Model: Crucial M4 256GB
Mainboard Model: Asus P5Q Pro
UEFI or BIOS?: BIOS
CPU Model & GHz: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @3.7GHz
RAM Amount & MHz: 4GB DDR2 1045MHz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2GB Unlock

Time: 16 seconds
SSD: Intel G2 80gb
mobo: Z68 Extreme 4 Gen 3
UEFI or BIOS?: UEFI
RAM Amount & MHz: i7 2600k 4700MHz

Laptops or just desktops? My lappy is below. Haven't timed my desktop yet. The SSD is fabulous in the laptop. Photoshop opens in less than 5 seconds. I pity the fools with 5400 RPM drives.

Mainboard Model: Asus K73E
UEFI or BIOS?: BIOS

This 1500MB/1200MB PCI-e SSD is fast, but not on boots. The Driver Initialization take you 10sec.... Rampage, as a board for overclocking, also spend some time on self check.
