Really, really, really getting tired of these quotes. With my HD7970 and 2600k, on Ultra I barely reach 60FPS in BF3 @ 1080. I have a 120hz monitor which I want to use to the fullest. I want 120+ FPS. Even if I didn't have a 120hz monitor but just a 60, I'd still want 60+ MINIMUM.
So please spare me 2-3 year old gen card maxing everything out. Of course you can max it out, but at what frame rate?
You can notice the clear difference between 60 and 80 FPS like day and night. It's just there, everything is much much more smoother. If you've never had the extra FPS, it's a pity, cause you're missing out on a lot!
Also, the more powerful HW we have, the faster we can improve our software! Our only limitation is in hardware at this moment, you can already create near real life simulations, just not in real time! We NEED much, much faster hardware, something that can do at least 100x what the current gen can. We needed it yesterday, but we'll have to wait at least 10 years.
On topic: it makes sense that if their yields are still low, they are waiting for the process to improve before releasing such a card for a reasonable price.Edited by thematrix606 - 3/5/12 at 12:45am
