I decided to go with the WD Caviar Black 1TB and a 120GB Wildfire. And thanks so much for posting this. Also have any of you bought a refurbished drive from Newegg? The regular price is to steep.

Glad I could help and you will be much happier with a real SSD.

Hmm Refurbs are give and take for me. I want at least 1 year warranty for any refub I buy. You gotta remember they are a refub because it failed originally. Alot of times the test are more rigorous on a refurb line. I work on refurbished computers and parts for a living.

I have dealt with Western Digital however, they are quick if you have a DOA or a faulty drive. I've used there RMA service and that is an A+ for the company.

Me personally I don't mind refurbs but I will not buy a refurb with a 30-90 day warranty like most offer, that screams to me they don't have faith in the refurbish.

As for newegg, i love them there easy to work with as they actually care for there customers unlike some sites. I have never bought a refurb them but I have bought open box items from newegg with a 100% success rate.

I see your point on the 1 out of 6. I think these sites should also show how many of that product they have sold. If someone has a problem with something of course they are going to let the world know about it. LOL. We will always have a few loose ducks out there no matter what

Agreed.

You're better off with a big fast regular hard drive. It'll have lower access times and higher sequential speeds for uncached data - probably by a big enough margin that overall it'll be faster.
I just wanted to mention that my position on Hybrid drives has shifted. I picked up a half dozen of them on Boxing Week for $40 a piece. Sickening deals! I'd have even bought them for $60 a piece, as that's no more expensive than regular laptop drives.

The new hybrid drives coming out with 24GB of cache really interest me. That's enough to fully cache quite a few games, without skimping on total capacity like SSDs do. Since I often play only 3-4 games at once (and to completion), then move on to other stuff, hybrid drive are definitely going to have a place in my future gaming PC. (I currently have one of the Momentus XT's in there, but 4GB of cache isn't really enough for most games.)
