Can't decide AMD or Intel

Heres the deal. I have A Dell (In my sig) with AMD Athlon x2 2.80ghz, and I just recently inherited a Lenovo ThinkCentre that has a Intel Pentium D 3.00ghz, (Both use the same RAM, PCI E, etc) and I dunno which will be better for my OS (Windows 7 ultimate 64bit) I read online that the Penium D was a "Dual core" CPU. Is that True? Given the fact if its' really Dual core and slightly faster than my AMD, Will it be better (If I add my Videocard, RAM, etc) to the Lenovo?

Please no, OMG Intel is better than AMD and such. I just need a straight answer.

Pentium D is slower than the AMD solution, especially the 8 series Pentium D's, 9 series was slightly better (65nm,multi-chip module)

The Pentium D runs OSX well from my experiences in the Hackintosh relm, just does bad on XP/Window 7 for some reason

Damn, That's too bad. Even though it's faster in terms of GHz? I can't find a good, affordable motherboard for my AM2 CPU that works with my RAM and what not.. and I want something a little better. I thought the Pentium D would be better.

He's right, because the technology in the pentium D is absolutely terrible, whereas the Athlon X2 is a great little chip, a little screamer.
